  1. The Building 19 3/4 of baseball teams.
  2. Grunge can't be dead. Melvins are still putting out albums.
  3. Don't deal any prospects. Take best player available. Take all SS's because you can "just move them wherever." No risky picks or signings. Hoard like TLC is going to be coming over after the year.
  4. Some choice quotes from Bloom prior to the start of 2020: Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom spoke honestly about the state of the Red Sox’s starting rotation. “It’s definitely more unsettled than I think you would want, in a vacuum,” Bloom said during a Zoom call Friday. “Now with that said, I think you look at someone like Nate and he’s shown that when he’s at his best, he can hang with any of those guys. ... For us to have a good season from a run prevention standpoint, I think some of these guys are going to have to step up. They’re going to have the opportunity to do so. They all have different ingredients that they bring to the table that give us reasons to be optimistic. Obviously time will tell. We’re going to learn some things about them as we go along. But I think to keep runs off the board, we’re going to need some good work out of some of those guys.” The group who Bloom is referencing includes Chris Mazza, Matt Hall, Jeffrey Springs, Kyle Hart, Colten Brewer and Mike Shawaryn who all could be used as openers or provide three or four innings following the opener.
  5. The Grill Master.
  6. Wow, he needed to ride with training wheels!?!?!? How quaint!
  7. “I like him,” Roenicke said. “I think he’s got good stuff, I think he commands the ball really good. It’s not the 95 (mph) but his fastball is sneaky. When he puts it where he wants to, mixing up all his pitches, I think he can be a good major-league starter.”
  8. They don't value the opener enough possibly?
  9. If it's Whitlock, there is certainly an IL stint waiting for him at some point.
  10. TBD if Crag has a different philosophy than what we've seen recently. Bloom built up the farm, but did so without any focus on pitching whatsoever.
  11. Bailey couldn't get Wood to work out in SF. Not sure he'd bring him to BOS.
  12. Big mistake IMO.
  13. Develop your own pitching and you can have them for SIX YEARS before they are even done with arbitration!
  14. His final start of the year (for a guy who dropped off): 9/30 6 IP 1 H 0 BB 7 K 0 R It was the best start of his season... after dropping off and being tired or whatever...
  15. Ryan Weber is still available in free agency.
  16. Houck could never.
  17. Kyle Boddy is as good as it gets for now.
  18. I disagree. Bloom could never trade Verdugo or Sale. After Mookie, he tried moving Vaz and then couldn't trade another player again.
  19. Sox need pitching, but they don't want to spend on it. They have the 4th ranked farm system, but the pitching is ranked 29th out of 30. The farm is just stacked with everyday guys.
  20. Pivetta got better in the pen because he developed a sweeper as I've mentioned a ton of times this offseason. It's why he went back to the rotation and pitched great down the stretch.
  21. Crag said they are giving them all the chance to start and stretching them out, but Winck has zero shot of starting in this rotation unless there are a bunch of injuries.
  22. Yes, it's where their stuff works the best. Winck's stuff plays up in the pen. He's a mediocre starter even in AAA. Houck can't get through an order a third time and even drops off considerably the second time. Whitlock just has never stayed healthy when converted to a starter role. It just seems obvious EVEN THOUGH IT HASN'T BEEN REPORTED OR THEY HAVEN'T OUTRIGHT SAID IT.
  23. Uh, ok. If you think Winckowski has a better track record at starting, please let tell me about it. Feel free to replace my comment of moving Houck to the pen with moving Whitlock to the pen. If Crag and Cora put Whitlock in the rotation again, he will end up on the IL 100%. It's not worth it.
  24. I didn't know that about Real Madrid. I'd pay yearly dues if I had to. I had no idea about the history of the Padres and Joan Kroc. It's a shame that MLB squashed her wishes for public ownership of that franchise.
