    I think most everyone on here agrees that Schwarber should have been re-signed for '22. They could have hidden him somewhere defensively for one year and then he would have been fulltime DH going forward. I think most people on the board said the same thing back then too.

    Run differential is kinda meaningless when a lot of the differential is due to the Sox having a great pitching staff with an offense that is not being able to put up any runs. Of course they'd have an ok differential. Even their comebacks are constantly falling sort because of their lack of offensive firepower. Who cares about them climbing back from being down 0-3 to tie it up 3-3 only to lose 4-3. It just helps dum dum Pythagorus. This team stinks because they put zero effort into having a lineup with any testosterone in it.

    Keep runnnig him out there and hope he gets better. If he doesn't turn it around, trade? Non tender? IDK what you do with the guy. I'm sure there is a team out there that would take him, just not at the value Craig wants.

    Arias and Betts are not remotely the same player. Maybe he winds up with the same offensive profile as Xander, but better defense? Maybe? Really overselling what the expectations are for Arias. He's not some savior that is going to come up and lead this team. He'll be a bottom of the order bat for the first few years. People made Betts comparisons with Rafaela when he was in MiLB too because of his power output. Just remember how much different the pitching is from level to level. Arias will get called up to AAA in a few weeks. Maybe he'll get a late season callup to BOS. There really is no rush as this is a completely lost season. Arias can get as much work done this offseason hitting against trackman as he can being up in Boston right now.

    I agree he got better because he was traded to MIL. I think they probably still needed another depth starter and this move only happened because they couldn't re-sign Breggie and the Paredes deal didn't work out. Figuring out a Duran for Paredes deal seems like a big miss right now.

    It depends on what Durbin does going forward. Extended cold stretches don't help my faith in the guy.

    I don't know what this argument is. The Sox bring in the 3rd most revenue in MLB. To say that the fans should expect the average results from that rings hollow. For a big market team like the Sox to be a last place team is completely pathetic. In '92, they had Boggs, Clemens, Brunansky, Viola and Reardon. How do you let a team like that get to last place? It's embarrassing. It's equally embarrassing for what they've done with this year's squad. 2018 was 8 years ago! We can't cling to that anymore. They shipped Betts, Bogey, Raffy, Sale, Eovaldi, Price and everyone else from that team out of town. The ownership of this team simply doesn't give a crap about fan experience AND no longer knows how to run a successful organization.

    Not sure they'd be in a rush to move guys like McDonough or Ferguson since they can fill in all over the field. They need to have guys who can just be bench guys and play wherever is needed on a daily basis. More likely that they'd move Cheng, Capra or Romero to make room for Arias. Castro's spot is secure through next season. There's just nobody to push him out.

    It was a very weird trade for sure. I think they project a lot of pull side power for him with the monster. It didn't work early on. He had to go elsewhere to fix his swing. Swapping MIFers (DHam for Monasterio and Seigler) is a very odd choice. Getting the comp pick back is ok, but they really pulled the plug on Harrison very early. This was coming on the heels of trading other depth starters (Dobbins, Fitts). I don't think the anticipated that they'd have to get to Bennett, but they should have. Harrison would have had a spot this year!

    Blaze's problem hasn't been his hit tool. His BA has been 275-300 the majority of his MiLB career. His issue was tapping into his power. He just may settle in as a 15-20 HR guy and maybe even a platoon guy. His defense isn't a calling card either.

    Red Sox win the series, but are still 5 games back of the WC on Thursday AM. Then they come back for some home cooking for NYY and WSH. 🤩

    They weren't messing with his swing when he had the 4 mediocre to bad months in AAA last season. Was there an underlying injury? His numbers cratered after he sat out due to a rib problem. They said it wasn't an issue, but I can't trust them on any health related items. I won't give them any excuses for what is going on this year.

    They were originally in the conversation with '92 because of the offensive stink. They are worse than '92 and worse than the pathetic '20 team (that team had Sale and ERod on the shelf). People are going back to the 1965 team for comparisons now. That is pre-modern era IMO. I believe the Sox can be split between pre and post 1967 for various reasons (ongoing success on field, attendance).
