  1. IKF is a backup that plays great defense and is a good clubhouse guy. Sounds like a good fit for this roster.
  2. If Durbin's arm is healthy, the best defense would be: Story 2b Mayer SS Durbin 3b I don't think we're going to get that though.
  3. Altuve has had 60 fWAR over his career. If the Sox got half that out of Durbin, we'd be happy.

I watched the women's match between Canada and Switzerland. The announcers were fine enough. Curling on split screens was a fun time too. Not really interested in anything else TBH.
  5. From BA: He can play second or third base capably, and he can even fill in at shortstop in an emergency. Durbin is 5-foot-7 and his value offensively is largely tied to his small strike zone, his excellent plate discipline and above-average bat control. He is extremely difficult to strike out and if a pitcher makes a mistake, he can pull it for extra bases. Fenway Park’s Green Monster should be a nice match for Durbin, as his extra-base juice is almost entirely to the pull side. How he fits for the Red Sox will be an interesting discussion. With Marcelo Mayer also ready to contribute and Trevor Story set at shortstop, Durbin could slide to second base, or the Red Sox could move Mayer primarily to second base and let Durbin serve as the Alex Bregman replacement at third.
  6. ??? He's played 40 innings at 2b in MLB. He's played 1,000 innings at 3b in MLB. You can't say anything about how he'd fare at one position or another based solely on the metrics because of SSS issues.
  7. Wrong, bunting for hits is GREAT.
  8. Also EVERYONE thought the KC deal was great at the time.
  9. The situation is further muddied by the fact that infielder Romy Gonzalez is behind schedule due to a shoulder issue that bothered him throughout the offseason (links via MassLive.com’s Chris Cotillo and the Globe’s Tim Healey). Gonzalez suffered the injury in Boston’s 160th game of the season. He rested it and rehabbed it throughout the winter and believed the issue to be behind him but instead aggravated it when starting a hitting program last month. He’s since received a platelet-rich plasma injection and is aiming to be ready for Opening Day, but that’ll depend on how his shoulder progresses (or does not progress) during the Grapefruit League schedule.
  10. Tolle would be a great reliever temporarily while he's still working on his secondarie Kutter was pretty good in the pen, I'd throw him there. I'd keep Early in the rotation. Coming off TJS, I don't know if you can put Sandoval in the pen. Not sure what they'll do with him. Oviedo has the stuff to be a great reliever, but I like his ceiling as a starter. I think a pen of Chapman/Whitlock/Slaten/Tolle/Weissert/Crawford/Moran/Watson could be pretty good TBH. I just think it'll take a little bit for Tolle to get there. If they swapped out Moran for Justin Wilson or a different lefty, it'd look a lot better.
  11. That he was a good glove at the hot corner in '25 will let me overlook it. He also didn't have crazy splits. You know they are just going to have Durbin play 2b vs RHP and 3b vs LHP...
  12. If Pedroia had to list his real height, would it actually be 5'9"?
  13. Dead. Triantos '25 704 OPS. He's repeating that level. That's like saying "the Sox shouldn't worry about 2027, they have Mikey Romero."
  14. Nate Eaton has an option and Sox value him and he was an average OF glove last season. Maybe this transitions him permanently out of the IF?
  15. Waiting to add him once pitchers and catchers report and Houck is sent to the IL? Then the Sox can have even more IFers on the 40 man!!!
