  1. I think they've been as big of a rival as the Yankees since then as well.
  2. Can I interest them in a moon potpourri of c level prospects to throw in?
  3. Shaw is a much better hitter. I'm not saying I want him as a Red Sox.
  4. They'd be crazy to do Duran for Shaw. I think they'd want more than underperforming Phillips or lower ranked Holobetz.
  5. At this point, I don't see HOU doing a Duran for Paredes swap as it doesn't solve their issue. They would want to trade Paredes for prospects and build back better.
  6. Maybe gains a year of control? Don't find out for a long time. It's not calculated until after the 3rd year is used up.
  7. The last two times Jax opened, Scholtens followed for bulk innings. Another guy in the long list of "who the hell is that" the Rays have thrown out there and gotten quality innings from.
  8. Our sister site "North Side Baseball" seems to agree with you that Matt Shaw is just waiting to be traded now that Hoerner has signed his extension. The Cubs need another arm for the starting rotation FWIW.
  9. An MiLB option. Some players earn a 4th option year based on injury like Bryan Mata did. He was able to stay on the 40 man roster a 4th year and spend time in WOO for an additional season due to all of his injuries. Luis Perales may earn one as well.
  10. Abreu - 935 OPS vs LHP Guess Roman gets to sit since nobody wants to get rid of Story yet?
  11. More HR, RBI and higher OBP, SLG than Alonso. For a team that was expected to have zero 20 HR hitters, he already has 8. No complaints from me on Contreras. Great defense too.
  12. https://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2024/08/massive-biomolecular-shifts-occur-in-our-40s-and-60s--stanford-m.html Rather, we undergo two periods of rapid change during our life span, averaging around age 44 and age 60. A paper describing these findings was published in the journal Nature Aging Aug. 14. "We're not just changing gradually over time; there are some really dramatic changes," said Michael Snyder, PhD, professor of genetics and the study's senior author. "It turns out the mid-40s is a time of dramatic change, as is the early 60s. And that's true no matter what class of molecules you look at."
  13. '25 17-15 (86 win pace) '24 17-13 '23 15-14 '22 9-13 '21 17-10 '20 12-23 '19 13-17 I'd say 3 out of 8 years were ok starts TBH. Could even say 4 if you want to count '23 since they were under .500 the rest of the way.
  14. I can justify firing Cora without using any data from '26.
  15. No Rule 5 exceptions, but he could earn an additional option year as some injured players have.
  16. Juan Valera had TJS
  17. I think you're misreading the post. "A weird batted ball start" was to mean that he started off with a very low line drive rate, but that it was expected that he'd end up closer to the mean of 20% by EOY.
  18. He won't be good after age 31. Bad contract! No more 2.5 fWAR seasons for him!
  19. You may be surprised by this, but I'm not actually in charge of promotions!
