  1. Their goal to be as close to 4th place as possible by Sept 1?
  2. Bum ass Preller trying to save his job. Granted, he was trying to win a WS for the owner that was terminally ill.
  3. BTV accepts Duran for Robby Snelling - SP Dillon Head - OF
  4. Wait til next year and it's not even the ides of March. Sad!
  5. Preller is trying to save his job. Adding pitching in the short term can't hurt.
  6. Will Flemming on WEEI, during Alex Verdugo’s AB, said that Alex is already running into the same issues (i.e. showing up late to meetings, games, etc) on the Yankees as he was on the Red Sox in past years.
  7. We already have Refsnyder though! @byJulianMack Refsnyder has a small crack in the toe of his left foot.
  8. No, too much money. Max 10/200, IMO.
  9. Most of the pitchers that have thrown over 5 innings have been very solid. Whitlock has given up runs, but only has a 1.06 WHIP (11K/1BB). Chris Murphy has been the only guy to really look rough (5.14 ERA, 1.86 WHIP). Jacques and Kelly are most likely to start in AAA. Announcers were pumping up Zeferjahn as a name to remember, but he wound up with the highest ERA and WHIP in Spring Training. Another reminder to turn the sound down and generally ignore the writers.
  10. Guys with over 10 AB's and greater than 900 OPS: O'Neilll, Sogard, Devers, Masa Guys with over 10 AB's and less than 500 OPS (40 man only): Duran, Casas, Reyes, Hamilton
  11. Spring Training wins and losses are whatever. It's nice to see Tanner Houck have a good Spring Training and pitch well. The bullpen arms seem to be look strong again even with the absence of Martin.
  12. Dalbec is the same height as Cal Ripken Jr.
  13. @BOSSportsGordo Update: Lucas Giolito will have surgery tomorrow. The extent of that surgery is TBD
  14. He just has to adjust his approach enough to keep pitchers honest.
  15. @ChrisHenrique San Francisco Giants are releasing JD Davis, per @susanslusser Would be a better option than Cron or Dalbec IMO.
  16. Depends on how well Grissom is playing. Trade Mayer for in a package for an ace?
  17. @tylermilliken_ Tanner Houck so far this spring: 8 IP, 4 Hits, 1 ER/R, 9 K, 2 BB Alex Cora noted his velocity jump early in camp. Has topped out at 97 in games. Between him, Whitlock, and Winckowski, he’s been the standout. If Houck can get his k/9 back up to where it was a few years ago, this rotation will be better off.
  18. 1. Hide it under a bushel? No! 2. I watched Moneyball again last night and it's so funny that dingdong is the only non-A's player mentioned in the movie.
  19. He makes great plays in the OF and has had actual success at the MLB level previously. ST results are somewhat important, but the coaches see a lot more behind than scenes and not just what is happening in the games.
  20. I agree. It looks rough at the moment, but we may even see some dividends at the MLB level this season. The team won't be in the playoffs and most of us may not be watching, but some of the pitchers may find themselves in a much better position with the new staff in place.
  21. His brain is constricted from the dumb newsboy hat he wears.
  22. @BOSSportsGordo Very nice outing today from Cooper Criswell: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 4 Ks Continues to make a case for a rotation spot.
  23. We'll have another CBO to complain about when they're finally good.
  24. Yup, Bloom should have done more trades like that at the '22 and '23 deadlines.
