  1. If players aren't going to take it seriously, it won't matter to the fans. It mattered to the players back in the day and it mattered to the fans. Why kill something that was cool?
  2. "This time it counts? Why'd I ruin that one chump's career then?" - Pete Rose
  3. It's blast Bud Selig into the Freakin' Sun Day.
  4. And they slowly started to kill baseball by introducing interleague play and letting the All Star Game end in a tie.
  5. I hate it. I liked when things like the All Star Game and the World Series felt special because you'd never see those players face off otherwise.
  6. Let me rephrase the above as: Every day is a Freakin' For Sale Day!
  7. Ian Cundall gave a real mealy mouthed response about why Slaten jumped to 12 after saying they'd never let a reliever be higher than 20. Sometimes, their rankings are a little too volatile IMO as we've seen with Matthew Lugo.
  8. It started early and often where they had runners on and nothing happened. Runners left in scoring position, 2 out: Duran, Ja; O'Neill 2; Cooper; Devers 2; Grissom. Braves only left 1 in scoring position with 2 out.
  9. I'm the Lorax of baseball.
  10. The two most emotional pitchers in MLB going head to head.
  11. If we moved Raffy to 1b, that bum wouldn't be any better either! DFA
  12. If they lose, they are only 1 game above .500 and it's I TOLD YOU SO THOSE GUYS SUCK AND THEY AREN'T GONNA WIN 70 GAMES!
  13. 154 has a bad mouthfeel.
  14. Right now, they are on pace for 86 wins. That would have not made the playoffs last season. TIME TO SELL SELL SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. With all the added travel and wear and tear on pitcher's arms, I'm sold. However, I'd just get rid of interleague play and go with 10 games against each divisional opponent (5 road/5 home). You'd play a team for 5 straight days and get each of their starters. It's only 140 games for now (they still want to add 2 teams which would push the regular season to a clean 150 games), but you could push the regular season back a few weeks so that It's not snowing in some ballparks and actually have it end in September rather than October.
  16. I don't have a problem with the expanded Wild Card. I think teams need to stick to a fork in the road when they get to the end of July though.
  17. With his SLG, I don't think he's MLB ready. Lugo needs to do it longer than for one month. He had a year long slump last year. He's still only 22 (for a few more hours) so there's no reason to write him off.
  18. Refsnyder probably won't start tonight since he was pulled from Sunday's game with a hamstring issue. They really want him for tomorrow's start against Sale. I would be shocked if Grissom doesn't start both games.
  19. Manfred just hasn't figured out a way to do ties yet!
  20. Top 20? Not a chance.
  21. Valdez? Marginal trade value as he's a platoon DH. Romy has no trade value. He's a DFA candidate. Kavadas has less trade value than Valdez, but more than Romy. Dalbec has no trade value. He's a DFA candidate. Why move Meidroth if he's not Rule 5 eligible? Keep him another season and see if he develops more power. Nobody would have wanted Lugo last year as he was a part time player who wasn't playing well at all. Paulino is playing better this year. His glove is a good carrying tool and he can carve out a UTIL role somewhere, maybe even here. Jordan and Yorke have some trade value, but teams aren't drooling over them.
  22. I don't know if Lugo has a spot here because he seems to be limited defensively from what I remember, but he's still young. He's Rule 5 eligible this offseason, so there's a chance he could be picked. If he keeps swinging a big stick, maybe you could move him for something? I just figured it'd be silly to move a real starting pitching prospect that is so close to MLB. This isn't a WS contending team, so I don't know what kind of trade they'd be pursuing, but Fitts seems better here for now.
