    I think people think he's a bust because he debuted for two months, got a big extension and then got buried in AAA with mediocre stats for over a year and a half. 25 799 OPS 26 763 OPS His glove isn't his carrying tool and his stats aren't getting better.

    Sean McAdam mentioned it on his podcast and maybe in a column. It makes more sense to do that AFTER he's burned through all of his options.

    Torres doesn't pull the ball or have good EV's. Doesn't seem like a real option TBH.

    Cespedes is NOT a SS. He may not even be as good at 2b as Valdez was. Godbout doesn't project to play at SS either, but isn't the defensive trainwreck that Cespedes is.

    Less surprising that a guy breaks out at 26 than is almost out of baseball and breaks out at 30 after a middling career.

    Adley's OPS should be a little higher next season, but if Abreu can still hit LHP and go back to hitting RHP like he did previously he'd be a force. There were 6 players with 100 PA's for the Sox in '25 with a higher OPS than Duran. He was ok, but I wouldn't say he was one of their best. Because of his skillset, I think his age will be a big factor in the wheels just coming off all at once. Maybe he's already there? Maybe there is a couple more years? I just think there's enough going on with the Jarren Duran experience that I'd like to move on.

    I think there's a good chance they kinda run it back again and hope that 40 game stretch is what we see over a longer period from the offense. 😮‍💨

    I'm not complacent, it's the ownership that's complacent. I have no ability to make trades or sign players. I want a whole host of deals done this offseason, but I don't believe they are really going to do it. What I'd do: Eat money on Story and trade Trade Duran for prospects, relievers, anything Trade Abreu, Arias, Bennett, more for Elly SS Sign Suzuki for LF Sign Pivetta as 4th Starter C Adley, 1B Conteras, 2B Mead, SS Elly, 3B Durbin, RF Roman, CF Rafaela, LF Suzuki, DH Masa SP Crochet, Tolle, Suarez, Pivetta, Bello Team could be worse if there's a big injury, but it could be A LOT better than '26 if things break right as the lineup is much deeper.

    The addition to next year: Healthy Roman Mead Abreu hitting RHP again I honestly don't believe the Sox are going to make any wild swings in FA (Sato, Suzuki) to fix the offense. They could make some trades, but those are impossible to predict with Breslow and most of his moves have been pitching/defense so far. I think they are under firm budget restrictions and depending on the new CBA, there may not be much to spend due to their tightwad owner. Wait til 2028?

    I think it's less surprising that they'd trade Rafaela than any of the guys on my list. I like Rafaela as a 8th/9th hitter and GG CFer and can overlook his bad approach at the plate. Can the Red Sox? There's been trade rumors in the past (MIA).

    I liked Olds. If he can keep the bb rate down, he has value as an up and down guy the next few years. We've seen worse in the bullpen that's for sure.

    I think normal regression gets them to at least 15th anyway.

    Slaten is a high leverage arm who just gets injured a lot. He still has 3 options left too. Seems unlikely he's traded, but everything is on the table.

    Moran trade, then Burgos DFA? Burgos actually has MiLB options FWIW. He could stick around. Burgos did pitch fairly well down the stretch. Zack Kelly trade if the keep Burgos? My original post is what counts for 4 for 4 though.
