    Red Sox lost. You know how it goes. I'm happy they got Contreras. I wish they also got Alonso, but understand that it's not my money and know cheapo Henry doesn't want to play with the big boys anymore.

    They were trying to cut payroll. Their roster management is kind of a mess right now and they don't really need more long term deals. I believe they have the oldest roster in MLB.

    I'm not saying they'd do that. They'll probably just bring back Wong AGAIN. I'm sick of seeing him. *Wong has a mediocre season in COL in '28* "Everybody hated Wong and wanted him dead when he was here! He's the face of the franchise in COL!"

    I guess. Sometimes it's better to just turn the page. They probably keep him around though.

    They will have several backup catchers. If they go into 2027 and decide it's Adley & Gasper, I'm ok with it. I'd just like to see some interesting guys at AAA too. Right now, it's Garcia, Riley Adams and Nate Baez. Probably need to sign somebody else as injury insurance.

    bREF likes his defense. FanGraphs does not. The swing between their WAR calcs for him is interesting for sure. If he was our starting 3b/2b and we were up 3-0 in the WS, we wouldn't care either. MIL would be better off with Durbin though.

    4 years in PHI without lasting a full season and averaging 147 IP per year.

    And he had two different lower body issues that reduced his IP this year. Not sure how to manage that and expect to increase his innings. Magic?

    His body can't handle it. He can only go 150 IP every year. They knew this when he was signed.

    Him being on the IL even longer would take pressure off the BP??? Do you even read what you write? There is no way to get him to pitch more than 150 IP.

    If Johanfran Garcia is in AAA, we may see him at BOS in 2026. He could either be an impact bat or not be able to hit anything due to his contact rates. Lots of power though.

    I'd rather take a chance on Gasper than run back to the well with Wong again. Just give me two interesting depth guys at AAA. It's also not too hard to find a backup during the season like Jake Rogers.

    Ranger has a history of only going 150 IP, but people on here want him to go 180 IP next season for some reason.

The plan was for Suarez to return several days ago, but an untimely illness delayed his return.

    If they traded Duran, but added Contreras and Alonso, I think posters would have been ok with it.

    He's a pretty bad defensive catcher, but if you just keep him as the backup is it ok for 40 G? If he can hit 800, is the trade off fair?

    Clemens and Hurst were a very good one/two punch in 86. The problem for the 86/88/90 teams were the pen. 86 24th (out of 26) ERA, 17th LOB 88 16th ERA, 19th LOB 90 25th ERA, 26th LOB! (Larry Andersen pen) Lou Gorman absolutely did not care about the bullpen.

    Pedroia 24th fWAR Victorino 25th fWAR Ellsbury 26th fWAR Ortiz 8th wRC+ Napoli 34th wRC+ Nava 36th wRC+ Rotation: Lester, Buchholz, Lackey, Dempster (Peavy added at deadline) If they weren't coming off '11 and '12, I think there would have been more expectations on that team TBH, especially with that rotation.

    And to beat a dead horse, Miller had a 5.15 FIP, 7.36 ERA in September with an 11.05 BB/9. Not ideal for a guy that would be coming in for high pressure situations!!!

    Roman wasn't himself, but he did have a 797 OPS after coming back from injury. It also didn't help that Contreras only had 18 PA and Rafaela only had 13 PA in September. OPS Sept '26: Durbin 669 Sogard 619 Abreu 615 Jones 614 Duran 587 Eaton 556 IKF 432 Wong 341 Monasterio 212 Durbin, Sogard and Abreu are the only guys I'd want back from that group TBH.

    With his power potential, it's worth it to keep him onboard. However, if his injuries are as serious as I think they are, they will probably move on from him in the next 12 months. Nobody should be worried about losing Romero, Ward or Song in the Rule 5 draft. Mullins didn't even pitch all that well in AAA. I'd protect Wehunt and maybe that's it. They probably deal one of Garcia and Brannon.
