    Arias was taking advantage of the hot MiLB balls in AA with a large increase in HR. His HR rate has dipped in AAA and he has gone back to a more contact heavy approach. I don't believe it's the same thing.

    As I mentioned previously, BA believes that the MiLB ball (used at levels AA and below) is running extra hot this year. The HR rate is way above current trends. In the Eastern League, the #1 team had 130 HR's last year, all but one team has 130 HR's so far this season. Somerset has 185. Portland went from 95 to 179! It's similar in the South Atlantic Leage too. Greenville went from 83 to 195!!!

    My guess is that they believe (as most of us did as well) that Roman is almost as good and is great at getting on base (almost .400 last year). If your 1a/1b hitter has a very high OBP, just slide him in at leadoff and let the guys behind him drive him in.

    Except that the 50% calc is a joke. It's never Revenue/2. It's (Revenue-Nonsense)/2. And why should owners get a full 50% anyway???

    Kids need to be good enough to force pathway open. Arias seems to be doing that. Campbell is not, whether you want to blame Driveline or sinkers or something else.

    The teams behind the Sox have been .500 for most of the year. None of them have come close to making any sort of run and don't seem to want to.

    It's less about having your leadoff guy "crank homeruns" and more about having your best hitter up to bat as much as possible.

    The NBA deal is a bit better, but the leagues are not comparable due to the amount of players. Also, the NBA cap is nonsense.

    The problem with the Pomeranz trade was that it was an overpay for a pitcher that was clearly going to regress immediately. Espinoza still had a lot of value and could have brought in a better player IMO. It's not that you can't trade those guys, just use them in good trades. Don't dump him for a guy who just learned a cutter and is running high on it and the book hasn't gotten around on him yet.

    KC and PITT could be more competitive, the owners choose not to spend.
