  1. He has the same WAR/162 as Lance Lynn and Gio Gonzalez.
  2. They view him as a guy they really would not like to trade. Also, they are comfortable with him paying 2b, SS, 3b. We definitely know that. If there's a preference going forward to one over the other? Don't know.
  3. They spent money on Willi Castro (2/12) rather than bringing back Rodgers. 🫠
  4. I would say that he has not shown that he's capable of moving veteran position players to new positions or even starting that conversation. The defensive miscues and other ongoing issues with the team (on and off the field) are causing me to question how good of a manager he really is.
  5. I think this is what most of us have thought going back to the offseason. It doesn't make sense to have him at SS or hitting high in the order. Put him lower in the order and take some pressure off.
  6. Yes, he's the worst modern era starter in the HOF followed by Jack Morris and Jim Kaat.
  7. I mean, Felix Hernandez isn't in the HOF (yet). He had a better peak than Johan and that peak lasted longer. Kevin Brown's '96-'00 was better than Johan's best 5 years. Kevin Brown may be the most underrated pitcher of all time TBH. 76.5 fWAR, 7 years above 6 fWAR, Another highly underrated pitcher: Rick Reuschel.
  8. Elbow inflammation for Valera. Will reevaluate in the coming days and determine if an MRI is needed. Per Hunter Noll who was watching: "He didn't look too pissed, and slapped a teammate on the butt as he left the mound... hopefully nothing too serious. Didn't notice anything on the pitch... Valera asked for a mound visit in the first inning, so maybe something was bothering him then, too."
  9. You sure it won't be the White Sox?
  10. Nobody thought he was a potential fix except on here. He was just filler for the WOO roster.
  11. We already had a stockpile of starting pitchers this offseason. We dealt them in deals that included Gray, Contreras and Durbin (though that trade was mainly for the draft money and pick). If we wait long enough to develop more guys, another few years will have passed.
  12. If they have, it's been a while.
  13. That's where I'm at. I know they see Watson every day and are able to project him going forward, but if he's not a late inning guy, I think they need to have more flexibility in the bullpen. Having a Rule 5 guy limits that flexibility. Weissert - 1 option Kelly - 1 option Anderson - 3 options
  14. Not allowed to trade an OFer according to many on here.
  15. Heading in the wrong direction. Whitlock > Slaten > Watson
  16. So many pitchers pop up and have a great 4-5 year stretch. Not being able to keep it up for a full decade is what weeds out the non-HOFers.
  17. If a guy like Santana is getting in, then Brett Saberhagen has to get in.
  18. Underrated such that he's about as good as Nolan Ryan, but people don't think that. Greinke just ended up retiring sooner. Better ERA+, WHIP, K/BB, bWAR/162.
  19. 100% Enmanuel Valdez's fault.
  20. I was clearly referencing Story being at 2b because that's the move I've wanted Cora to make for quite some time now.
  21. That's how it worked if you go through the transaction log for Bastardo and Paez. There were questions on if the Sox would strike a deal with the other teams so that the players could be returned in order to bypass the waiver claim process. It eventually didn't matter.
  22. No, he gets put through waivers. Any other team can claim him prior to him going back to whatever his previous team was. He would keep the Rule 5 rights if claimed.
