    I would lock up Anthony and Campbell. In order to lock up Mayer, it would have to be a cheaper deal than the other two. He's a good player, but the injury issues make me question how long I can count on him.

    Crochett had one injury. Glasnow has had multiple injuries. Hard to put them in the same category just yet. Glasnow's highest IP count was 134. Since he entered the league in 2016, he's only thrown 100+ innings 3 times.

    I don't think people are saying they WANT to pay him that much, just that they'd be willing to go that high.

    There's a lot of money coming off the payroll starting in 2026. I don't think any deal affects his pay for 2025.

    Their roster is a mess and the corners have LHB’s at the moment. He’ll be on the Opening Day roster IMO.

    That's not the strategy though. They face the top of the order for the third time in the vast majority of all of their starts (Bello, Crawford, Houck, Giolito in 2023).

    I've never visited the arcane world of MLB arbitration so it's hard to say one way or the other. They still have time to come to agreement before it gets that far.

    No opt out gets the Sox to keep an ace here for several years if he stays healthy and productive. That's the difference.

    No different than every ARB negotiation. An increase now has a cascading impact on ARB years 2, 3 and 4. They are trying to save money on all 4 years, not just 2025.

    If Crochett is going to walk because he won't sign a Cole deal, I wouldn't agree to an opt out after '27. It provides protection for him and screws over the Red Sox if he has a career ending injury. Might as well make it a mutual option so the Sox can get out of it. Breslow needs to nut up and give an offer that is good enough that he doesn't feel like he needs to test the market.
