  1. She's a woman of many talents. CEO of the Boston Globe! From her Insta: producer, convener, ideator, adventurer. What can't she do?
  2. If only we had Verdugo sulking and barking! I like O'Neilll, but he's not coming back. 794 OPS since May 1. It's fine. He's been solid since the ASB. I think we knew he couldn't hold up for 162.
  3. If they committed to Raffy and Casas at 1B and 3B, but went all out for defense at 2B and SS there'd be a HUGE improvement in the defense. A better SS makes Devers' job so much easier.
  4. Blaze Jordan - hit for power when he was 17 and then lost it Drew Ehrhard - old signee who has hit the ball very well in a small sample, older brother of new draftee Zach, older than Casas, did I mention OLD? Nathan Hickey - just demoted to AA, which is always a great sign Bryan Gonzalez - big body, big power, this is the first year he's shown signs of life since COVID season Andruw Mussett - who the hell knows, bat may not be good enough for 1b, should try to stick at catcher Brooks Brannon - always injured, in-game performance is not impressive at all Freili Encarnacion - originally signed as a SS, but had to move elsewhere and is now at 1B because LOL, only 19 but hasn't hit anywhere Justin Gonzales - the only real 1B prospect, is 17 and in the DSL, probably wouldn't be here until 2029
  5. O'Neilll's glove has been pretty mediocre to bad lately and his arm even worse.
  6. Hungry like the Angry Lizard
  7. @EvanDrellich Baseball players in Japan want to reach free agency sooner and plan to soon file a legal challenge to Nippon Professional Baseball's reserve system. If successful, NPB players could join Major League Baseball earlier in their careers — without being posted Not that I wanted to post Drellich.
  8. I'd keep Hamilton around until there's an actual roster squeeze. He's been really good and maybe he's the guy they use at the beginning of the season until Mayer is ready? IDK. I think Valdez is useless at this point. Hard to count on Story to be healthy.
  9. Duran 7.5 bWAR Devers 4.2 bWAR Yeah, Duran is the MVP for sure.
  10. It was in Spring Training. I have not heard any reports about it in AAA. If he's simply not hitting, I don't know if it matters TBH.
  11. Yes, the closest we've ever gotten was SFF given an off the books Uber ride to Larry Lucchino. As TalkSox historian, I mention the lore so that in case I get hit by a bus, it's not lost to history.
  12. You've asked for Devers to move to his position since Devers was in AA.
  13. They were quick to sign Bello and Rafaela to overpays. Hard to believe the Casas deal was an underpay.
  14. Sogard is a better defender than the others you mentioned. I think he wasn't given much of a chance because he's a AAAA low ceiling type guy. If they just wanted defense, Sogard would have been called up in April.
  15. He had less than 20 games at 2B in the minors before having to play there as a 21 year old in MLB. Rough transition IMO! Compare it to what we saw out of the first 300 innings from Rafaela at SS. He's been better lately, but he played over 70 games at SS in the minors. Hard to simply say it would not work out at 2B for Vaughn because of how he played in '22. There were conflicting scouting reports, but the one thing that seems clear is that the power is a big question mark that may not come around.
  16. This is the first time someone has used supple appropriately without getting banned. Thank you. The issue with Casas is that there are underlying health concerns and he doesn't seem inclined to extend. Aside from that, I love everything about him as a player. I love that he's weird. I love that he mashes. I love that he was brought up in this system. I love that he has a position and we're not asking if he has to be moved elsewhere.
  17. A lot of jilted lovers on here now. Sad!
  18. Unbelievable!
  19. He was San Diego's closer before they got good again. He was the Pirates closer when he was at his peak. Even got CY votes!!! That's when the Pirates were good, but I have a hard time counting that. Zero saves, one blown win, 6.48 ERA in the 3 years of playoffs for the Bucs as their closer. I'll give him that he finally had a nice run with ATL when he was in his mid 30's. I'll attribute that to baseball is LOL random.
  20. @SPChrisHatfield Twins/Royals are on a 90/91-win pace. To get to 92, they're gonna need to go 25-11. Suppose 5-5 against AZ/BAL/NYY, they'll need to go 20-6 against the other teams. They desperately need to rip off a 10-2 stretch or something in this upcoming set to make the math work. Sox currently at a 86/87 win pace. Really need to pick it up if they want to make the playoffs!
  21. Per Statcast: Feet saved or lost on OF plays due to reaction Duran 1.2 (gets a better jump, but has a -0.8 due to really bad route taking which could be even worse in a huge RF he's never played) Abreu 0.7 Rafaela 3 (towards the top of the league)
  22. Unclutch is repeatable in Boston. See: Melancon, Mark.
  23. 5th starter would be Giolito?
  24. I'm not worried about the bottle necking considering all the injuries that happen upon this team. I think they should transition Campbell off SS as he should never play there though.
  25. Dobbins' max velo is now 98+ which is greater than what it shows on his SoxProspects page. His past 9 starts include a 1.79 ERA. Probably ready for a promotion. Chance he leaps Elmer in the rankings before next season?
