  1. IMO, Atlanta was closer to a real playoff push and it was worth it to roll the dice on Sale's upside than for the Sox. ATL also had some injuries in the rotation needed Sale's arm. ATL were also able to maneuver their rotation enough to allow Sale to have an additional day of rest for almost every start this season. Sox were still in more of a bridge phase and Sale may not put them over the top. Both teams may end up missing the playoffs this year though.
  2. Last chance to vote is today! Any idea when/if the results will posted?
  3. There was a certain amount of that value attributed to Grissom working out in some way shape or form. He's shown signs of life in AAA recently, but it's been a very rough year for him.
  4. He hasn't been healthy long enough for us to see if his bat is still good or not.
  5. He'd be fine at 2b.
  6. His -9 DRS this season is probably just an aberration!
  7. Not to worry, DeJong is a FA.
  8. Well that's clearly why you added the Spaceman to that list. Great pitcher and I love the documentary where he went to pitch in Cuba.
  9. "You piggies are just going to keep eating this slop anyway."
  10. Theo said he's spending time to work with the other entities more so than the Red Sox.
  11. If he was being honest, he'd say "we'll be around .500 for 3-4 more years, but be competitive enough to be in reach of the playoffs at times. We'll have a window of another 3-4 years and then have to rebuild most likely. I've won 4 World Series already so you have to trust what I'm doing even though what I'm doing now is completely different than what I've done in the past!"
  12. Hard to say every LHP traded was a mistake, but Lee only left to have one decent year. They were 11 games back in '79. He wasn't putting them over the top.
  13. Bill Lee isn't a very good example for this though.
  14. Remind me in 9 months how this works out for you.
  15. The history of sports franchises haven't been "milk this thing dry for shareholders" the way we've seen with venture capitalists. Ownings sports teams have been more of a play thing for rich bastards. It's more about getting their rocks off from feeling like a big shot around ballplayers. Making money has been secondary. If you want to root for JH to hold onto additional money as fans spend more and more of it on a losing product, more power to you. It's fine for me to use my voice to tell ownership how to spend the money because in absence of shareholders, we are the only ones that can hold him accountable.
  16. I like both Sox pulling at the edges of the bottom corners. Looks good!
  17. There is no way Mayer is winning the job out of ST without playing AAA. At the very least, they are super two-ing him. C'mon man!
  18. This is a very weird statement. Why should we feel the same way about the owner of Dunkies as the way we feel about the Red Sox? Is it the owner who has taken your favorite drink off the menu or someone else? For the Red Sox, we know that JH had a say as to whether or not Mookie was going to be here for life.
  19. He's intentionally being kept away from the media because whenever he is in front of the camera he says something that needs a PR spin.
  20. We don't know what Casas wants. Maybe it's more than what other 1b have been extended for? If it's more than what Alonso got in his ARB years, plus a 30M extension for 2 years, it's a bad extension IMO. No reason to pay anything near there.
  21. I honestly don't remember. I goes simply by the number of games played now.
  22. Yeah, k's are up across MLB since 1995. It's not just a Red Sox problem. Don't know what to tell you.
  23. Service time starts whenever a player is called up whether it’s April 1 or September 30.
  24. If he can actually throw innings and stay healthy, it’s very valuable.
  25. Feel free to change the channel if you’re just waiting for something else to come on anyway.
