  1. The Ying Yang Twins of TalkSox.
  2. What the?!?!
  3. It would be more about Devers falling below Duran than Duran passing Devers IMO.
  4. I see him as a replacement for the David Hamilton bench role.
  5. The only guy I've heard mentioned that has leadership qualities is Kyle Teel.
  6. At some point, his 866 OPS in AAA has to mean something. He's a solid player with a skillset that is clearly missing from the '24 Sox.
  7. If Lorenzen shows up to Sox camp, there's no telling what Bailey does to Lorenzen's elbow! Maybe the Sox are even worse trotting out Lorenzen as it pushes their Game 5 starter (Houck) to the pen for the year!
  8. SEA also has a surplus of arms and may want a bat like Yoshida. OR NOT.
  9. Meidroth with up arrow = TOP TEN LFG!!!
  10. He's young and toolsy. Right now, I think there's an issue with Bleis' swing as he's hitting too many infield popups. I think scouts rushed to grade him too high too soon. I don't think he's the next Gilberto Jimenez/Antoni Flores to flame out though. He should at least show more promise and make his way through the system. Not sure he's going to meet the hype he once had though.
  11. So they end up at 81-81 instead of 78-84?
  12. They want a team that is close enough to .500 to be seen as competitive. Would the currently injured Michael Lorenzen have made a real difference (5.00 FIP)?
  13. If they were just slashing payroll, they wouldn't have signed Giolito. However, they still had 162 games to play and a roster to fill out. Funny how that works.
  14. This is his Jacoby Ellsbury 2011 season. Sell high!
  15. Giolito seemed more likely to be able to last a full season than Sale. The rest of the Sox arms didn't have the history to show that they could hold up over 162 and we have seen what has happened to them in the 2nd half.
  16. They thought Grissom's cheap contract would outweigh the $$$'s spent on Sale in the short term.
  17. @Brock Beauchamp, we tried to warn you. KC is trying to hand the WC spot over and the Sox absolutely don't want it. What are your thoughts on the Sox collapse this year as an outside observer? For us, this is the third year in a row where they've started planning their golfing trips in August.
  18. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of your post and you should be able to delete it.
  19. That wouldn't have prevented them from drafting Campbell earlier OR in the 4th round anyway. If the scouts really liked him, they still would have grabbed him.
  20. Well, I'm not sure if he can keep increasing the cost of the tickets. He is treating the Sox as a real estate investment, but that's at the expense of the MLB club itself. I think it eats into the overall value of the club more than he realizes. At some point, the Sox Nation stuff is oversaturated and people won't care anymore. They need to pander to their fans of a whole generation of people will simply stop caring or not learn to care.
  21. They didn't need to trade Xander. They were probably fine getting the QO for him. However, they had a few other guys they could have dealt at the '22 deadline and still kept Xander around and "attempted" to re-sign him. JD Wacha Hill Eovaldi Schreiber (at the height of his value)
  22. The swoon started the middle of July, not after the trade deadline. 10 games over .500 at ASB. 6 games over at end of July. 4 games over at end of Aug. Now at .500.
  23. Henry wanted more movement at the '22 and '23 deadlines. Bloom couldn't get it done. That's the reason he's out of here. It has nothing to do with the 78-82 records. If Breslow ends at 78-82, Henry will be fine with it. Henry just wants more pandering to the fans and Bloom didn't do enough of it. At least Breslow can say that he tried and it didn't work out.
  24. I'm not a believer. We'll hear a lot of rumors. Until a legit pitcher is up on the podium putting on a Sox jersey, I'm not going to buy into the rumors.
  25. He acquired two decent relievers that didn't work out. s*** happens. He got a low risk/low reward starter that unsurprisingly didn't work out. He traded a decent prospect that wasn't going to play in Boston for some reason for a starting pitching prospect. Good trade to me. More work was done for the MLB this deadline than for '22 or '23.
