    If Suarez came out and gave up 7 runs in the first inning in Game 2, would you rather blow the bullpen up or have Sandoval go 6 innings?

    It's really pitcher dependent. BA was saying that the increase of HRs could cause batters to change how they swing and pitchers change how they pitch. May see some players really fall off the map at AAA. Aside from Halligan, the pitchers mentioned have lower or equal ERA's at AAA. You might expect that ERA to go up at a more challenging level.

    I'd rather Olds, Moran or Gamboa in the bullpen than Sandoval or Bennett.

    I think your last sentence is why they'd hold off on adding Bennett to the WC round roster. Also, he hasn't pitched coming out of the pen and is a pitch to contact guy. Houck went 1 IP, 1 BB, 3 K last night, but the velo on the 4 seam and sinker were down. We'll have to see how he looks in BOS before even seriously talking about adding him to a WC roster.

    That's why I think he's more like a 20 HR guy peak rather than the 30 HR guy that he was showing in AA. It's still much more power than he has shown in the past and has been great for his development. There was big power projection on Xander. "It just sounds different coming off his bat!" He only went over 25 HR once in his career and more often than not has under 15 HR. Until Arias actually does it at the MLB level, it's hard to really count on it. I'll stick with my OCab comp for now.

    In a 3 game series, I'm resting Bennett in hopes that he's less fatigued for the rest of the playoffs.

    I agree. My comments were in large part due to: "He is too little. If I can beat you up in a fight, get off the 40 man roster."

    Right now, Bennett is too fatigued. I would consider only adding Sandoval to the playoff roster as a bulk innings guy in case a starter dropped a deuce on the mound and they wanted to punt a game. I wouldn't start Bello in Yankee Stadium 3 under any circumstances.

    Since he was in his late 80's at the time, he was allowed to say whatever he wanted about "those bums" IMO. He was perpetually annoyed by Casas, but loved Verdugo. He was a man of contrasts.

    I would say less power and steals as he won't be a 30/30 guy like peak Lindor. Maybe like 20/10 at some point? A better comp could be Orlando Cabrera. A guy who is contact heavy, slightly below average offense, but will be fine towards the bottom of the order. His carrying tool is going to be his glove and it should keep him in the game for a long time.

    Bennett's last 5 starts: 5.08 ERA, 4.65 FIP, 28.1 IP (5.2 per start), 28 K, 3 BB, 29 H, 1.13 WHIP, 7 HR (5 in his last two starts)

    The real insane thing is they are seriously considering adding a third FL based team. Miami and Tampa are bottom 5 in attendance even in years when they are playoff bound. It just shows how much value there is in owning a team even in a small market.

    Leon - 89 G, -0.6 bWAR, 0.5 fWAR Vaz - 80 G, -1.1 bWAR, 0.4 fWAR Swihart - 82 G, -0.1 bWAR, -0.1 fWAR Kinsler - 37 G (deadline acquisition), -0.3 bWAR, 0.1 fWAR, dreadful in the postseason too Nunez - 127 G, -0.8 bWAR, -0.5 fWAR Pomeranz - 74 IP, -0.7 bWAR, -0.4 fWAR C and 2B flat out stunk for that team TBH. Pretty sure grampa called them bums at the time and he was right to do so.

    Don't get too excited about Arias's HR% in AA as it's a little inflated. His HR rate has gone back down a little since going to AAA. In AA and lower, they are most likely using a new ball and it has caused HRs to skyrocket across every league. Many teams are putting up a record amount of HRs and playing like it's the steroid era, except it's 19 year old kids. Brannon has some of the most legit power in the system, but he's comparable to Bobby Dalbec AND less likely to draw a walk.

    Let him increase his pull AIR somewhere else. It won't help him at Fenway. Wilyer is 13th in oppo % this year and has been outstanding. It's time for the Sox to just move on without him.

    Mark Prior at 6'5" had less service time. Kerry Wood at 6'5" had to be moved to the pen in his 20's because of injuries. Frame doesn't make the pitcher. Pedro didn't get beyond his mid 30's, but not many pitchers do. Sonny Gray is having a renaissance after age 35.

    I'd take 8 full seasons of Lincecum out of any of our prospects.

    People were upset they didn't sign Schwarber, but are happy about Devers being traded away. Similar salaries and similar production. What's the difference? Devers is signed for 3 more years, but is 4 years younger.

    Rangers are going with DeGrom and skipping Bradford's turn in the rotation. Tomorrow would be Gore? Rocker on Thursday?

    He could be a high caliber arm next season and going forward. I'm just saying that it's not working out now and would have been terrible last postseason. Sox definitely got the better end of the deal for 2026.
