    I said from day one that he may never get back to MLB or at least be a shell of himself when he does. Since they brought in Contreras this offseason, I don't think they were counting on him coming back at all either.

    The problem when dealing prospects is that most teams want guys that are close to MLB ready, they don't really want players like Justin Gonzales who is still in A ball. They want Gonzales when he's in AAA. Sox don't have the talent that is ready to be promoted to MLB. The assets they have are far away so have less value to other teams.

    Not a problem anymore. They've gotten rid of most of their scouting department. Now they just watch video at home like the rest of us.

    Pena is the most reasonable here as he's on a short contract. Angels have already sent out signals that it would take a king's ransom for Neto.

    I believe FanGraphs (or a similar site) had a recent article on teams using their catchers more and more as DH's on days when they aren't behind the dish. If you have a guy that can swing it, why not? The big question now that the Sox are probably signing 8 bats from this draft class is "who is getting promoted and who is getting waived to make room for the new guys?"

    He was the same player before and after he signed his contract. Why would a contract change how he plays? That doesn't make sense at all. Should the Sox sign Duran for 30M AAV and say "well, now you are required to stop sucking at hitting" and expect him to hit?

    DHing Sogard over Masa means Masa is no longer on the roster. I'm fine with that move. I've called for clearing Duran and Masa from the team over and over and over again. 🤷‍♂️

    Fenway would be a better park for his swing. Not sure how long he sticks around though. This is definitely a low cost low reward move.

    Well, I don't think they brought him in if they thought he'd have a 506 OPS vs LHP going forward this year. If he does, they'll also DFA him.

    Anthony could come back and contribute, but there is no timetable. He could keep rehabbing and need surgery in a few weeks. He could rehab, be fine and be back in the lineup right away. Hard to forecast. I'd be surprised if Crochet came back and was anything more than a backend starter. It's going to take quite a long time to get him ready even if he was healthy today. 1. Long toss 2. Bullpens with rest 3. Live pitch to hitters 4. Rehab starts That timeline is already 45 days or so. It's like starting ST all over again.

    This doesn't contradict with me saying that Masa should be playing instead of Duran. I'd get rid of both of them, but I'd certainly play Masa every day in the meantime instead of Duran. They don't play him more because they don't like him. Why? He's not their guy. So get rid of him!

    I thought we'd be at that point, but it looks rough this season with Roman and Crochet out, plus bad juju with other pitcher injuries and young guys potentially needing IP limits. Just a weird year.

    He hits fastballs and pulls the ball in the air. We've had worse guys on the bench. He was DFA'd last week, so the price tag should be very small.
