  1. It seemed like it to me from early indications. Glad to hear it.
  2. I haven’t noticed a difference, so I’m just reporting Stat Masterson’s perspective as I found it interesting and contrary to what I’ve said in the past.
  3. Also, thank you to Maddie for correctly speaking out against the trade idea. Initial post was prior to me getting to that point.
  4. Had to pause the episode: 1. David Hamilton looks like the 2b of the future because of a few weeks of ST games and his added muscle. 2. Multiple years of Duran, Casas and a AAA starter for two months of Vlad at the deadline. This episode went off the rails early. ST stats don’t matter. The added muscle players put on doesn’t matter. Rafaela has revamped his swing and worked on being patient before and it didn’t matter. That trade proposal is CBO firing worthy. Duran, Casas and Priester should bring back a young controllable rotation piece, not a guy that will cost 450M to re-sign. 😠
  5. 2023: 4/20-8/18 96 G, 867 OPS 2024: 4/19-8/28 67 G, 867 OPS I think there were different reasons he fell off in each season, but I think it's really overstated about him being cold "for months." You could say he's started slow for a few weeks and then ended poorly for a month or so each season. If he carried that 867 OPS for the whole season, nobody should complain.
  6. This would be unsurprising as he started to transition off C last season, was demoted to AA to work on catching and make room for the big 4 but really hasn't shown much behind the plate at any point. His OPS really fell off last season with the promotion to AAA. Maybe a second go around will help him the way it did for Kavadas (+185 OPS in second season at AAA)?
  7. Hoss Tolle
  8. The thread was for the TalkSox podcast, if you had bothered to read it. It wasn't a thread for "who plays third base" or whatever. My suggestion for you is to stop being absolutely miserable about everything to everyone on here.
  9. He's definitely sticking with a SLG first approach and 2B only profile I guess!
  10. And you had the audacity to post a beating a dead horse jpeg? None of this is news. The Casas trade rumors are months old. The Devers stuff is weeks old at this point. Do you have anything else to talk about?
  11. From his scouting report on SP: Highest-variance prospect in the system with a wide range of potential outcomes. Really struggled in 2024 after a promotion to Greenville where he looked overmatched at times at the plate. Injuries have slowed down development considerably as he missed most of 2023 with a shoulder injury and had several short injury/health-related absences in 2024 that led to roughly 20 games missed. At his best, will check all the boxes you look for in a prospect his age, and if he reaches his potential, all five tools could grade at least as average, but his highest variance tool is his hit tool, which makes him extremely risky. Swing easily gets out of sync and has not translated to on-field production since 2022. He's one of those five tool prospects that may never sniff MLB IMO. I'd consider trading him before he has another lackluster season and becomes a "remember that guy" guy. 2023 SAL 607 OPS 2024 SAL 747 OPS 2024 GRE 584 OPS Aside from '22 in FCL, he hasn't done much to impress on the field.
  12. 2021 IFA for Bleis. Romero was drafted in 2022.
  13. It's saving innings on Houck, Crochet, Giolito, et al and keeping them fresher for the end of the season and potentially the postseason. Would it work? Nobody knows! I think a 6 man rotation wouldn't solve the current issues with pitcher injuries. Maybe it could solve fatigue problems? I really can't say for sure because I've never played professionally.
  14. Does Bregman have options?!?!?!?
  15. I think the Angels used it when they had Ohtani. Aside from that, it's been only used sparingly. If the Sox had the horses for it, sure. Now? Nah.
  16. Stock may not even make the AAA squad. What are we worried about?
  17. They aren't going with a 6 man rotation if they don't have big league arms. The guys they brought in for the pen are pitching like dog s***. Everyone wants Winckowski sent to Siberia and endlessly complain about Wilson, Stock, et al. Taking an arm out of the pen is going to make that group even worse.
  18. Mayer isn't on the 40 man. Don't need to dump him yet. DFA Bregman. Toro is a 2B/3B guy. Bregman is just in his way.
  19. Adding a sixth man to the rotation wasn't going to stop the immovable object Garrett Whitlock from the unstoppable force Getting Injured. Bello missed time early in '23, early in '24 and is slow to get ready in '25. This seems like a Bello problem. They can add a sixth man, but it's not going to prevent pitchers from getting hurt in the short term. It would only prevent them from wearing down in the long run, but would provide a much greater tax on the bullpen especially if the guys that are being added are unknown commodities like Fitts or Priester.
