  1. Saying this signing is underwhelming is the understatement of the offseason. I can't see them picking up another LHP for the pen now. Do not like.
  2. STEAMER projects 1 fWAR this year. Whoopdeedoo. He only had -0.3 fWAR last season. Nice 3.3 WAR difference between the two metrics.
  3. How do the Sox go about enticing Sasaki? It won't be with money as all the bids will be about the same. He basically gets to pick and choose where he wants to go solely based on the org and not finances.
  4. I'm a Pocket Casts guy. If it's not there, I'll never remember to listen to it.
  5. What's 28M between friends? Also, the tax implications of NY vs MA make this a lot closer than it looks.
  6. It's not much, but it's less they can pay towards middle relievers.
  7. A sinkerballer who doesn't have a great GB%? Last year, his xFIP, FIP, xERA were all significantly higher than his ERA. Maybe the Sox could figure out his horrible slider and tap into something? I would assume that the trade would be significant due to the amount of control. Right now, he's a backend of the rotation guy. He COULD get better. Why not just get a pitcher who IS better?
  8. I don't think the Sox wanted to spend 5M on a backup catcher for the next 2 years when Teel could be called up before this ASB.
  9. Misses bats and starts.
  10. Terrible trade for the Sox IMO.
  11. The Rangers had loaded up on FA's in previous offseasons. That it worked out a year later than expected shouldn't be a complete surprise.
  12. Top 6? No. I'm not sure these moves get them to 90 wins (7 teams won 90 games last year). Gio might not have a full season in him and is coming off TJS. I don't know if anyone should expect anything significant out of Hendriks. Does a part time 35 year old catcher that has had one good offensive season largely due to his particular home field (665 OPS away, park factor is 7th for RHB HR's) have that much of an effect?
  13. With Nick, his xFIP looks great because of his k/bb ratio, but he's getting hit hard (10th percentile barrel, 6th percentile GB rate). A lot of metrics surrounding Pivetta limit his ceiling to 3rd starter at best and we've seen that since 2020.
  14. Crochet is decent, but it would depend on what they traded for him. That team is an improvement on last year, but isn't going to win the WS.
  15. Once the Selachii realize he has one of their own submerged in formaldehyde in his office, he'll become a going concern.
  16. Nasty Nate, Pivetta, Martin, Jansen, Kelly & Kimbrel Play all the hits.
  17. The pitching needs to get better, not simply moonwalk into next season.
  18. I think they got lightning in a bottle with Houck last season. I wouldn't expect it again this year. Trading for pitching without also providing that pitcher an immediate extension is a waste of farm resources IMO.
  19. Why sign Soto if you're only going to give him a mediocre starting rotation? Wouldn't you want Soto AND at least one of Fried/Burnes.
