  1. Are you thinking of this game: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BAL/BAL202204290.shtml It was the first 12 batters and Houck was being used as the planned piggy back guy. If the piggy back is ready, just bring him in. They rode Hill so hard that he was injured at the deadline and couldn't be traded. The oldest pitcher in baseball. 🫠
  2. They don't bunt, because they don't believe it's a play that is worth it anymore. It's a wasted at bat for the most part. Small ball is gauche. We want dingers, launch angles and are less worried about whiffs. There are more homeruns per game, but not more runs per game. Yay?
  3. Pirates are a few loses away from being under .500 as a franchise for the first time in over a century.
  4. I don't want to get too excited about Brooks Brannon. His OPS after 5/22 was only 514. A strong week and a half isn't going to convince me that he's fixed much of anything.
  5. H was handed the straightest fastball ever created by a god.
  6. I said in the offseason that Campbell AND Anthony needed to be on the Opening Day roster. I know that creates a little log jam, but that's up to Cora to figure out the rotation and go with the hot hand. It would have also moved the Sox out of the worries over Super Two/don't bring Anthony up until a certain point because of ROY voting nonsense. 😔
  7. I enjoy that you can have multiple blown saves in a game.
  8. No, it's the opposite if you look at their numbers from what I remember. A lot of weak oppo contact.
  9. Padres are trying to stay in the playoff picture. They aren't dealing Cease unless the team goes south.
  10. What does mastering a level prove that you can do at an especially harder level (MLB)? A pitch that works in A or AA may not necessarily even be playable in MLB.
  11. Most prospects are NOT can't miss. You take a risk every time you make a trade for a grab bag of prospects. 🫠
  12. I would have given one of the spots to Carlos Narvaez. 356 AVG 427 OBP 534 SLG 2 HR 10 R 9 RBI 171 wRC+ (Duran was 8th in wRC+ on the Sox)
  13. Cora is giving him enough leash to get into trouble and then gives the escape route to someone else. Seems fine to me for a guy with one of the worst bb rates in MLB.
  14. Scouting report seems to be the same now? IDK
  15. GRE - 6 start sample POR - 7 start sample WOO - less than 60 innings I'm not sure what that could tell you about how he'd pitch in majors 3 years later. I fixed the dates for you. GRE '19 5.43 ERA (Low A before SAL and GRE flipped) POR '21 4.66 ERA POR '24 6.75 ERA POR '25 8.31 ERA WOO '25 6.52 ERA
  16. Early Monday morning, Dennis Lin of the Athletic reported that the Padres are (once again) targeting Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, though Lin also pointed out that a need to bolster their starting rotation was "equally as acute" as their need for a left fielder. Add Bello to that deal!
  17. Bello's bigger problem is that he's 4th out of 135 starters in bb/9 with 4.95! He has the second worst K-BB% in MLB.
  18. Bello only has a 6.5 k/9 this year. That's 112 out of 135 starters that have thrown 40+ IP. If they're trying to make him a strikeout pitcher, they've got the wrong coaching staff.
  19. Letting him get hit around after he's thrown to is pitch limit isn't going to help him either. I think he should have worked out of the Brewers jam. Which other one should he have kept going in? At some point, we can't blame Cora for having to pull Bello in the 5th inning if he's at 90 pitches and has runners on.
  20. Everyone gets push back for every idea they put on here no matter how great of an idea it is.
