  1. BMI doesn't work for professional athletes. BMI would categorize every NFL running back as obese.
  2. Last 7 games: 2.4 runs/game (tied lowest) 0.1 fWAR (team hitting) 70 wRC+ 28.9% K (2nd highest) 629 OPS (24th) 12.5% LD (lowest) 37.9% Pull (25th) 41 H (lowest) 194 AVG (29th) 7 GDP (7th) Campbell, Anthony and Mayer are all going to have ups and downs. Fans can't really count on them this season. Duran was supposed to have his breakout in June (739 OPS), but it hasn't happened. Narvaez has been good, but I don't know if you can count on a rookie catcher to have an 800 OPS for the whole season, especially one that wasn't known to be an offensive first guy. Toro is most likely on borrowed time. Romy should be platoon only. Hamilton should be DFA'd. Rafaela has fallen back to earth since the LAA series (536 OPS in 11 games) which was to be expected. Wilyer was on a downward trajectory before he hit the IL (456 OPS since 5/14).
  3. He's NOT obese. Not even borderline. You guys are ridiculous.
  4. Again: buying or selling, but the options are #1 thumbs down and #2 thumbs up. Thumbs down is clearly buying as you're unloading your current players to add to your team because you don't believe in the current team, right? Thumbs up is clearly selling as you're possibly getting rid of some contracts and putting some more cheddar back into Henry's wallet, right?
  5. "Oh, so what do you do?" "I'm an accountant." "Can you do my taxes?" "Hell no!" "I guess you're not a REAL accountant then!"
  6. Tibbs 0-4, 3K
  7. Sox have hit Castillo alright in the past. I said the same about Yarbrough though.
  8. Bauer could have been an interesting sign for some team a few years ago if you knew he'd shut up and just pitch. Now? He's past his prime and is a mediocre pitcher OVERSEAS. At best, he'd be a 5th starter with really bad PR. Why take on that headache?
  9. And BTW, Pedro Martinez is taking Raffy's side and saying Big Papi isn't handling things the right way. 🤔
  10. He told the Red Sox that he'd play 1b. He just didn't want to be yanked around and he wanted to be permanently made the 1b.
  11. "He shouldn't have listened to his mom and taken the extension! He's probably not going to sign for that much! How much money does a person need anyway?!?!?"
  12. He's also part owner of the team. That's why he's carrying so much water...
  13. Mayer had 2 hits in 1 game. Zero in the other 5. Anthony had 2 hits total. Raffy had 3 hits in the 5 games he played. To say that Anthony and Mayer did more is just kind of silly and showing a lot of bias. It's fine to turn the page, but at least be honest.
  14. Mookie was in the offseason and then there were no games for like 8 months. At least with Raffy, it was back to baseball hours later.
  15. One thing Bres keeps reiterating is that it’s not about the best team on paper, but best flexible team and that will lead to more wins. We shall see!
  16. It was noted in the very first post that the pitching had been gang busters. My posts right after reaffirmed that. Feel free to add even more reminders if you feel like it. Not sure what Devers had to do with the pitching. If the pitching takes the slightest step back and the hitting stays under 3 runs per game, they'll be in trouble.
  17. I think the "lie" was when Breslow told Devers that there was no truth in them trying to sign Bregman.
  18. It depends on the position, Rafaela played a mix of OF/IF last year and had more PA than PO & A. For catcher, the defense is more important. For SS, the defense could be as important, maybe even CF. 2B? Breggie has 5,000 PA's and only about 2,500 combined put outs and assists. Is defense only a third of the game for 3B?
  19. I'm still not "happy" being critical of Devers on the way out, though. I think the WAR valuation on FanGraphs ($8M/year) is kinda silly. I don't have an issue with DH's having far less WAR than hitters. However, them having a negative dWAR is eyerolling. It should be handled in another manner.
  20. I think we all look at it under slightly different lenses. I don't think any of us are necessarily wrong.
