  1. Roman has that heavy ground ball profile too. He doesn't have that ceiling, but I wouldn't get too worked up about the ground ball rate just yet.
  2. Sox offense with Devers: 103 wRC+ Sox offense with Anthony: 104 wRC+ Sox offense since Anthony injury: 83 wRC+ This offense needs to be led by a big bat and nobody is able to step up right now.
  3. She's qualified. Eddie Romero Jr is qualified (not listed in the article, but did apply for Craig's position). I would have supported either hire before they brought Craig in. I think I'd just like a more senior person brought in to help with the communication aspect of things to help Craig with some of his missteps. Seems like Theo is too busy with overall FSG things to just focus on the Red Sox day to day.
  4. Bregman is an average to below average range guy at 3b. With his injury, it's only been worse this year. Story's range is also way down this year. He'll be 33 soon and it's only going to trend the wrong direction.
  5. A few MiLB awards were announced today. No FCL All Stars or notables for the Sox. Justin Gonzales was listed as an All Star for the Carolina League.
  6. I wouldn't put money on it. He's been much better on the road than at home.
  7. We have no true measure on when decline actually begins for each player. It's just a guess. Decline could have already happened for Duran. Maybe it won't be until age 35? We have no clue.
  8. Masa 8/5/24 - EOY '24: 832 OPS Masa 4/20/23 - 7/25/25: 942 OPS Previously, he had stretches of productivity each season. We just haven't seen it this year.
  9. Internal option would be the worst option. Just a pointless decision.
  10. I was counting on a Masa revenge season. 🫠 He's just been really bad this year.
  11. Romero's hit tool is fairly questionable. I think he'd be eaten up at MLB. He can punish mistake pitches, but will see less and less of them as he moves up. Want to see a full season of him absolutely mashing at AAA before he gets called up. Think he's better at 3b than 2b.
  12. He's writing him off after the prior two years most likely. It's much larger than a 40 game sample if you don't like the guys swing.
  13. Campbell, Garcia and Toro are all hitting poorly down the stretch. Nobody is making a run at a late callup.
  14. HOU plays TEX and SEA the next 6 games. No matter what, there are some losses in there for somebody.
  15. At the end of the season, TOR and DET will have wrapped up their playoff births and will be mailing it in. Sox should see some AAAA lineups most likely.
  16. Rooting for the Twins sounds like a curse to me.
  17. Rafaela at least provides defense. Wasting the DH spot on Masa is worse IMO. He's got to be the first one to go IMO. He's also hitting 5th or 6th rather than 9th. Can also add Bregman, Lowe, Hamilton and Duran to bats that are "hitting" their way out of town this September. 1. Bench Masa 2. DFA Sanchez when Abreu comes back 3. Abreu is DH vs RHP, Ref is DH vs LHP (Eaton in RF)
  18. There's 43 CFers with over 200 PA's. About a third of them have worse OPS's than Rafaela. If you go by fWAR, he's a top 10 CF in the game. Not sure anyone should be talking about benching him TBH. Not sure where the inflection point is that the negative offense outweighs the defense. He's not there yet though. He's still playable above 650 OPS most likely.
  19. He shouldn't have played him at 2b. There's zero doubt in my mind. Did it play a part in it? Who knows.
  20. He should have been there on day one. His swings looked fine. The adjustment was just small sample size of the ball not falling in. He was always ready. They just didn't know how to work him into the lineup when they had Casas/Devers/Duran/Rafaela/Abreu/Refsnyder which is ridiculous in hindsight to most, but to me at the time. We already know the ceiling of the other guys. It's going to be Anthony's franchise going forward. Even ownership was saying that the keys were being handed to the big three. There was no reason to wait on the guy who was the most ready and the most gifted.
  21. The 690 OPS isn't great, but it's playable if he's in CF because of the defense. People on here definitely got too excited talking about Mookie Betts when Rafaela's OPS was in the 790's for a week or two. That wasn't meant to last. We saw molten hot stretches from JBJ too.
