  2. Didn't take anyone last season. Probably won't take anyone this year either unless somebody they really like falls to them.
  3. DD did it just to stick it to the Sox. The perfect use of a Rule 5 pick is a high upside relief arm like Sandlin. We saw it with Whitlock and Slaten. Ryan Fernandez had a decent '24 after being taken by STL. We're seeing teams shy away from drafting positional players as they are harder to stash and don't typically have the upside.
  4. Carrying 12 pitchers puts the team at a disadvantage in an age where starters don't go long into games anymore. With 40 man pitchers, when you send them down, they have to stay down for a set number of days and can't be recalled wily nilly.
  5. Henry flew to Kansas City because Devers called out chief baseball officer Craig Breslow the previous day for asking him to replace the injured Triston Casas at first base. Despite Breslow and manager Alex Cora calling the session "productive," Devers still wouldn't acquiesce. As Breslow and team CEO/president Sam Kennedy put it, Devers and the Red Sox couldn't "find alignment" on what was best for the organization, resulting in the homegrown star's departure. So, why couldn't Devers and the Red Sox find common ground during the meeting with Henry? “They wanted me to play first base" Devers said, according to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe. "I told [Henry] ... eventually, yes. I could play first base but maybe next year. It was not my fault that players get hurt. I felt like if another player got hurt, they would move me again.” Devers called out Breslow and told him to do his job. Henry gave Devers a shot to mend fences. Devers wasn't interested because he already felt slighted by Breslow and didn't feel like Breslow made an attempt to work with him. At that point, Henry gave Breslow the green light to deal him. Reports are that the Braves offered Ozuna, Murphy and prospects, but probably requested some of the contract to be paid.
  6. I'm just over here posting with my cute baby face and can't be bothered. 👶
  7. Paez has never pitched above A ball and can't be stashed for a year via IL. He'd have to sit in an MLB bullpen for all of '26. If he's taken, there's a good chance he'll end up back in BOS.
  8. Yes, unlikely the Sox protect him, but likely he gets taken.
  9. Who are we to ask someone to stop whining? Like, be real. Everyone on here is a pro at whining.
  10. If Buehler made anyone a believer in ST, Red Sox Nation is hopeless.
  11. You are comparing a platoon bat to fulltime players. If Cora believed in his bat as much as you do, why'd he give him 100 less PA's in '25? His SLG dropped almost 100 points against 4 seamers last season. His xSLG is trending downwards against 4 seamers. It was the first year he had a negative run value against that pitch as a Red Sox. He'll be 35 and some players age quick. He did say he was thinking of retiring at one point.
  12. They can be on it for the whole season. The following year, they need to be on the active roster for only 90 days, I believe.
  13. I like Ref and he still put up good metrics. Only worry to me is that he struggled against velo in '25 and it may be downhill from here.
  14. Having face to face conversations is scary. 🫣
  15. What they lose is offseason 40 man space. It makes sense for a struggling team to grab him, stash him and then only have to keep him on the MLB roster for a partial season in '27. For the Sox, they need the 40 man flexibility more than they need Monegro.
  16. Sandlin 90% Monegro 33% (long time to keep him on the 40 man with no BOS benefit) Uberstine 33% Mullins 25% Drohan 15% Paez 1% Rivera 1% Song 1%
  17. I believe Song and Drohan if picked again would not have to be returned to the Sox. I don't think there's any chance Song is added. Drohan being added is like 15%.
  18. WE don't get a say. Until people start bullying JH again, we'll get our slop and have to like it.
  19. Yeah, they are making excuses for him. He lost weight during the year, but all players do. I don't think that's the reason he flat out stunk. Rib injury started the decline. He never picked himself up out of it afterwards. Why didn't he lose weight in previous seasons?
  20. Sale averaged less than 50 IP the previous 3 seasons. Can't get much for that! Have to settle for some measly 2b.
  21. 2b has been the last position they've worried about filling every season. They don't care about it.
  22. If I had to wager what the Sox did: Breggie 5/something Duran traded for prospects BOS/MINN prospects traded for Ryan (extended in ST) Hoskins 1/cheap
  23. The question marks with Campbell were defense and ugly swing that could potentially be exploited at higher levels.
