  1. ... or we can have the NL West teams get a bunch more revenue than other divisions simply by proximity to LAD. Similarly, the AL East teams would see a lot of revenue from playing the Sox and Yankees. Teams in middle America would continue to not really get much.
  2. Paredes has been talked up a bunch, so maybe? I don't believe Marte is available. If Paredes is off the table and the conversation is between Baty and Shaw, I go with Baty. Another guy that people will struggle to spell correctly.
  3. I think they would still do the deal no matter what. Maybe they don't do the Oviedo deal? Maybe they still do both? Hard to say.
  4. If he's the last girl at the dance, fine. I just think there may still be other options that are more attractive that I'd like to fool around with.
  5. Story k's too much for me to want to hit him 2nd.
  6. From MLB.com Upon completion of the trade, Boston and Gray negotiated Gray’s $35 million salary for 2026 to $31 million while increasing the buyout of his $30 million club option for '27 from $5 million to $10 million. Gray also has the ability to opt out of the option if the Red Sox exercise it. A source told MLB.com's Ian Browne that St. Louis is sending the Red Sox $20 million to cover part of Gray’s salary for 2026 and the buyout of his club option. From ESPN.com He had been guaranteed $40 million for the next two seasons: $35 million for 2026 and a $5 million buyout of a $30 million team option for 2027. His contract was changed to guarantee him $41 million: a $31 million salary for next year and a $30 million mutual option for 2027 with a $10 million buyout.
  7. I don't know how well Batty fits at Fenway. Seems like the Mets don't need him anymore. Jett may not help the Sox this year, but the Mets don't need him at all.
  8. Then the Dodgers should refuse to play in low revenue generating venues. Big markets should be able to negotiate their scheduling. Those teams are rewarded by increased attendance down the stretch.
  9. Right now vs RHP: Anthony/Rafaela/Duran/Contreras/Abreu/Story/Mayer/Narvaez/Hamilton (Masa bench bat?) vs LHP: Anthony/Romy/Duran/Contreras/Masa/Story/Mayer/Narvaez/Rafaela (Abreu platoon bat?)
  10. Not every team has their own local tv deal. Not fair to make the Dodgers, Sox, Yankees shared theirs TBH. Having an 88 win team to get the first overall draft pick and the most draft pick $$$ makes no sense. Oook ook oooook.
  11. PHI had a 7/200M offer on the table that he turned down.
  12. Trading both Abreu and Duran seems like a lot!
  13. Since Dombrowski took over, that pen has been perfectly middle of the road (17th in ERA, 19th in WHIP, 12th in K-BB%). Even better than PHI could have expected from a guy who doesn't know how to build pens.
  14. Paredes would be my first choice too. He'd hit bombs like TON, Renfroe and Duvall did.
  15. "Those are the facts and the facts are undisputed. Or not."
  16. "Don't listen to ownership, listen to me!!!"
  17. No, don't want. There is a floor that would be really rough for the '26 Sox. Both guys have good gloves, but haven't figured out MLB pitching. There's a chance they never do. You can't have both of them along with Rafaela at the bottom of the lineup.
  18. I think he's just swapping out Suarez for Painter in his mind and going to use that money elsewhere. I think Suarez will be fine over the next 5 years. I think the only thing to watch out for is that he's NOT a workhorse. I hope Breslow doesn't try to tinker with his velo either.
  19. They may be in the minus zone, but Dave has taken the Phillies to the playoffs 4 out of 5 years, only missing the very first season. They've been over 90 wins the past 3 years. Maybe there will be a reckoning at some point. If there is one, it's because the farm system is generally towards the bottom third. DD can spend, but he does need to fill out the ballclub with some smaller contracts.
  20. '21 - missed 1 week '23 - missed 3 weeks '24 - missed 3 weeks '25 - missed 6-7 weeks Is this a curve that is getting worse or just bad luck in '25?
  21. They are the archetype of winning at the moment. Until the Sox are in the playoffs year in and year out, we need to hold them to something.
