  1. The only time Abreu came up with a runner in scoring position, Rafaela got thrown out at home. It's not like he k'd looking.
  2. Brown vs Severino tonight. Severino has a 821 OPS at home and hates pitching there so much he tried forcing his way out of town. Sox need to keep winning. They aren't getting outside help tonight.
  3. Just had to emphasize the obvious. Lowe could have gone to any team, but chose BOS because they were on a playoff track and had nobody for 1b. Not sure Brezzz needed a hard sell for the guy.
  4. Sox 96.1% Tigers 80.4% Guardians 80.3% Astros 43.2% (93.7% a week ago)
  5. 1. Getting In 2. Offense 3. Defense 4. Rotation 5. Bullpen
  6. The AAA system is fine and moves the game along quickly. I'm fine with it.
  7. Serves them right for their run last season when they were 8 games below .500 in August.
  8. Record in Sept: Tigers 5-14 Astros 9-11 Red Sox 10-9 Jays 11-9 Yankees 13-7 Mariners 15-5 Guardians 17-5
  9. “Being around him a little bit, you can see he’s getting more comfortable,” Breslow said of Anthony, per MassLive’s Chris Smith. “When it first happened, you could look at him and tell that he was in quite a bit of discomfort and pain. That has subsided, but there’s still quite a bit of room to get to in terms of baseball activities.” Considering Anthony hasn’t even started baseball activities, that four-week recovery timeline might be pushing for the star outfielder — given that Boston could be playing in the Wild-Card round in less than a week. “Making progress,” Breslow said of Anthony. “Getting a little more comfortable every day. But it’s an injury that we knew would take some time to heal and get back on the field. He and medical staff are working as hard as they can to try to accelerate the timeline to make that possible.” Remember, Cora told Anthony to envision and ALCS first AB.
  10. Cellar Dwellar? They were picking 14th in the draft.
  11. Jhostynxon only had 9 PA's in MLB this year. Not sure what you're gathering from that sss. Mayer's only downside right now is his inability to stay healthy. If he was put on the open market, the Sox would get offers from close to 29 teams.
  12. Technically, the Royals haven't been eliminated yet and they are 6 games back.
  13. Nobody is judging him ONLY on that. It's fair to give him criticism when deserved though.
  14. Maybe have Abreu take some more swings in WOO today? Who are they playing? 🤔
  15. The deadline is ALWAYS an overpay to acquire talent. That's why you don't wait until the deadline to fill your needs. Saying that you're going to be buyers is stating that you're going to overpay to bring guys here. If you don't, you've failed in what you've told everyone. They said they would BUY. They simply BROWSED. Craig fn' Browslow.
  16. No, they didn't think that was buying because they even said that they didn't get what they wanted out of the deadline, but at least he thought he did his best. "We were pursuing multiple impact players," Breslow said. "And obviously, on the other side, teams that were operating as sellers were trying to juggle different concepts. And for whatever reason, we weren't able to line up." "Yeah, we can't ignore what other teams are doing. At the same time, our focus today was identifying and pursuing the players that we felt like were good fits for our team. And ultimately, we're all going to be defined by what happens from tomorrow through our last game of the season and potentially the playoffs," Breslow said. "Yeah, we spent pretty significant time trying to add a bat," Breslow said. "But someone, again, that could impact the roster, and represent a meaningful upgrade over the guys that we have, either on our team or potentially in Triple-A that we feel like would immediately improve the roster. We weren't able to line up." "Like I said, we were kind of uncomfortably aggressive in trying to pursue them in the players that we were willing to put into deals." "None of the deals that didn't end up being executed, in my opinion, came from a lack of being aggressive or an unwillingness to get uncomfortable." "Like I said, we were as aggressive as we could possibly be in pursuits." "The decisions that were made at this deadline, they weren't driven by, like I said, an unwillingness to be aggressive." "We were aggressively pursuing acquisitions that could help us in 2025 and they didn't line up." "We tried to put the most aggressive offers that we could in hopes that they were going to end in deals."
