  1. When Jared says stuff like "I never got too high on this team or believed in the hype of vibes until this year" he's lying. He's not a guy that looks in the mirror very well. He definitely talks to a lot of people in the organization, but I don't believe he's speaking with Cora anymore. I know he's friendly with some current Red Sox players (Gio, Breggie), but I'm not sure that means he has inside knowledge of what the Sox will or won't do a month from now. A lot of times, he says there's a scoop and never reveals it down the road, so we rarely get the scoops that don't ever come about. I'm not sure how often he speaks with Sam Kennedy, who he's had on the pod previously and who people believe he's friendly with.
  2. I agree with retooling. This team, even if could sneak into the third playoff spot, isn't going to go on some postseason run. It's not good enough. The starting pitching isn't there. The bullpen is going to be haggard by the time September rolls around. The offense has more holes than one of my dad's 40 year old suits. The defense would let the team down at too many crucial moments that there's little chance they could win many close games down the stretch. The problem with this team is roster construction. They need 3 starting pitchers, 4 relievers and to turn over a substantial portion of the offense. The bones of this team just aren't good enough.
  3. AND Mayer would move to 1B in order for Campbell to play SS. That was the original argument.
  4. His scoop shop isn't always right. We just pretend it is.
  5. He was wrong for it, but it doesn't mean there was an issue in the clubhouse because of it. Cora said that it wasn't a hustling issue. Cora said that he had a groin problem he had been working through. I don't know why that isn't a good enough explanation. I've seen enough highlights of MLBers not running out plays at first that the Devers play barely registered to me.
  6. We don't need to know all the details! Papi is actively making the situation worse and somehow causes Devers to look more mature in the situation.
  7. If Gio had stayed healthy, seems like he would have been the good signing. He probably won't get to the 140 Innings mark and will be back next season.
  8. Yophery is sporting a 599 OPS for Salem. He should be unranked IMO. Fringe power. Corner OF only. Sandlin is such a wild card due to his command/control issues, that it's really hard to rank him. If he figured it all out, he'd be a top 5 prospect. From inning to inning, it's hard to know what you'll get when you are watching his starts. I'm not entirely sure that would get straightened out by a move to the pen. It's nice to see Bleis turn it around a little. I'm not sure he has the same perceived ceiling as before, but he does flash some exciting tools.
  9. He's the 40th man on the 40 man roster at the end of September. Probably a guy you call up as a feel good story to get nutjobs like us excited to tune in for a game or two when the Sox are out of it.
  10. Whitlock had been really good for a while. Coming back from his injury, there will be bumps along the way.
  11. If the team gives you a 3 run lead in the top of the first, don't give it right back. Seems easy enough? Not for Buehler.
  12. If there was a problem in the locker room, there'd be quotes. They would have found dirt and trashed him on the way out the door. They didn't find anything and made up the most useless stuff they could find that amounted to nothing. "He was mad at Kristian!" "Did Kristian or anyone in the clubhouse know about it?" "No." "🧐"
  13. Papi just had to live stream a bunch of unanswered texts to prove some sort of point. What point? IDK. They asked Devers about it and Devers said "I love Papi. I know he loves the media. He can say anything he wants." Papi can keep running out there for the FO and saying what he wants, but it just looks like sour grapes to me.
  14. I'm going to retroactively agree with all the people that were calling on the Sox to move Mayer to 1b!
  15. Not a good 2b is understating how awful he has been at 2b so far. He would be horrific at SS.
  16. For the 15th time this season (excluding Opening Day), the Boston Red Sox are at .500. The 2024 squad was at .500 on 23 occasions. At this pace, they could surpass last year's total around August 19th.
  17. Too late for me to watch the whole thing unless a no hitter is going.
  18. I don’t care about fielding percentages. Prior to a few weeks ago, I would have never posted it. I just know we have a poster or two who are stuck on it.
  19. If he played 70 years later, he would have sold thousands of shirseys.
  20. Buehler 3/29-4/9 9.1 IP, 8.68 ERA, 6.39 FIP, 6.92 k/9, 0.99 bb/9, 1.61 WHIP 4/10-5/25 31.2 IP, 2.56 ERA, 3.89 FIP, 8.36 k/9, 3.46 bb/9, 1.18 WHIP 5/26-6/17 18 IP, 10.50 ERA, 7.35 FIP, 8.50 k/9, 4.5 bb/9, 2.22 WHIP He had a nice little stretch in April and May, but he's been dreadful since Memorial Day. Batters are just teeing off on him. He may get a reprieve tonight as LAA are 24th in wRC+. LAA is the second worst fielding team in MLB, just ahead of the Nats per FRV (25th in fielding percentage).
  21. Bello 3.31 ERA career low 4.42 FIP (4.18 career av.) 4.70 xERA career high 348 xWOBA career high 18.0 K% career low 10.2 BB% career high 94.4mph Fastball velo career low 89.3mph Offspeed velo career high 18.4 whiff% career low 24.4 Out of zone swing% career low 60.6 First pitch strike% career low None of this is good for Bello going forward. 😣
  22. I think the team would STRUGGLE to find another CBO if they fired Breslow in the next year or two. They'd have to either hand it over to Cora or someone else internally. It'd be a big time shocker. Either move would be. At this point, Cora still is a guy they want around for a long time. I think they wouldn't "fire" Cora, but would move him to a FO position during an upcoming offseason. I think that's the most likely solution.
  23. No concerns: Chapman, Wilson, Whitlock Usage concerns: Bernardino, Weissert Lots of concerns: Kelly No opinion: Guerrero, Alcala
  24. He probably appears in WOO late next week and in BOS during the COL series at home. Pitching is a concern. Bullpen is starting to look a little shaky, especially Weissert (last 5: 4 IP, 3 BB, 1 K, 1.75 WHIP).
