  1. In his first game back at AAA he had two XBH, but both were OPPO! 😑
  2. Either trade bait or going to be given Refsnyder's roster spot next season.
  3. Record with Bregman and Devers 26-26 Record without Bregman but with Devers 11-10 Record without Bregman and Devers 3-5 The best stretch was with Devers, but without Bregman.
  4. Are there many teams under .500 at the halfway point that have won a WS? Any? Even the '06 83-78 Cardinals that some posters trot out were 44-37 and leading their division at this point.
  5. Management hasn't always hasn't always faced reality when we've needed them to ('22, '23, '24).
  6. This is what Cora said about Duran being selected to the ASG: "And we got one more. When we talk about consistency and posting and playing the game right, this guy is (expletive) amazing. We got kids here, and I bet if you want your kids to become big leaguers and play the game the right way, you're going to tell them, 'Take a look at Jarren Duran.' (expletive) All-Star." Talk about being tortured! That's some rough treatment!
  7. Duran LF '24 611 Innings 3 OAA Duran LF '25 665 Innings -4 OAA Duran playing his natural position of CF
  8. The reason the Sox didn't get a massive haul is because the massive amount of dollars attached to the contract.
  9. Add players while giving up the pieces that don't fit. Duran isn't working here, but he'll fit elsewhere. He still has a lot of trade value. If they were to dump Wilson AND Chapman, I think the team would be going in the wrong direction if they were trying to reach the playoffs. If they are trying to build for the future, it wouldn't be the worst idea.
  10. I've posted about it recently. I think there's a chance of it happening. He's a guy that is really working with the younger guys and is active even while on the bench. He seems to have a great attitude. I think he's the type of player that Breslow and Cora want the younger guys to emulate. If so, that's a guy you figure out how to keep around.
  11. Breslow has said they are buyers. If they are still selling guys, it's so that they can continue to compete this season. He believes they will win more games without Devers than they did with him.
  12. We've put you on irrevocable waivers every season, but you've never been claimed. You're just going to have to stick around with us.
  13. The problem with the "active roster" argument: 1. He signed an injured Sandoval at 9M 2. He traded Devers and his 12M was part of the current season performance 3. Bregman's 25M will be back on the active roster at the end of next week 4. Masa' 18M was able to DH just fine in ST, but they decided to send him to AAA because of his throwing 5. He traded for Hicks's 12M and has him playing in AAA even though he was healthy enough for SF
  14. It wasn't a no-brainer. When you go back to the day he was traded, many of us said "this could look really bad if Sale goes out and shoves this year. Grissom doesn't really have a defensive position."
  15. A lot of GM's now look at it similar to the BTV model and that some high dollar contracts are simply underwater because of their length. There were a lot of quotes going around about how a lot of FO types were impressed with what the Sox got back because of how Devers's contract isn't going to age well. It's the typical fight between a new way of thinking and a more traditional way of thinking which is what Posey is trying to balance in SF.
  16. ZiPS projected a 1.2 win season for Wilyer which I crowed about all offseason. He's already at 1.3. The projections are nonsense IMO.
  17. Cora benched Masa last year for like 2 straight weeks when he was healthy. He'll do the same for Duran if he needs the PA's.
  18. Per Statcast, Jarren has Matthew Lugo sprint speed this season.
  19. And Duran will have a much shorter career since he was a rookie at 26. Not much reason to put a lot of effort into developing him, especially when what you do try to provide him just washes right over him and doesn't stick. Stop making excuses for these players. Duran has been in the system and playing OF since 2018. How many more years does he need to figure it out?
