  1. Story is one of Cora's buddies. I think he's not a fan of the Driveline stuff. He's not here long term. I don't see a point in keeping him around. Brez needs to find "his guys" and elevate them.
  2. TBH, I think the white flag is up, but Brez doesn't realize it.
  3. I don't know what changes Durbin would make. He's just hitting the ball on the ground more than last year. I don't know if it's a swing profile thing or pitchers are pitching him differently. Last year, he did a little better with pitches on the outer half of the plate and he's been dogwater with them so far this year. He's still swinging at everything so maybe he comes out of it. IDK. He doesn't have a huge ceiling so it's not like he's going to tear the cover off the ball once he gets going. I'd cut my losses on Trevor Story. Move Mayer to SS. Move Rafaela to 2B. Story isn't here long term. No point in investing anytime in him going forward. I'd send him to COL and eat 90% of the contract.
  4. Coming off a playoff appearance, they really half assed the plans for this year. A BoSox team that isn't going to mash? Ok... Are they moving to the AL Central? 🫠
  5. So far this year, he's chasing less and k'ing less. However, he's not really barreling the ball as well as he did last season. He needs to go on a real heater like he did at the end of May last season. He was hitting 602 on May 27th and was up to 796 by the ASB (1024 over that stretch). He's a streaky guy, so maybe he can get going for a little while.
  6. Not really. Nobody here predicted a complete collapse and the entire Cora regime being canned.
  7. Honestly, if they dig themselves in too much of a hole, the whole team could get their stats back up and still be under .500.
  8. What if they had traded for Joe Ryan instead?
  9. If they don't turn the season around, it's on Breslow. Maybe he should have held onto Cora until September?
  10. They are 16th in active cash payroll, which excludes any player on IL. I think that's a terrible way to look at payroll TBH. Doesn't make sense to exclude Gray, Crochet, etc.
  11. That number made me confused as to which team was even being talked about.
  12. "This team will miss the playoffs with 88 wins." "Wow, you were so right about this team, friend!"
  13. Why couldn't they demote Duran? He has options.
  14. Mullins last 4 starts: 21 IP, 3 ER, 9 BB, 9 H, 30 K, 0.86 WHIP, 1.28 ERA
  15. Keep him away from the pitcher's mound.
  16. We talked about the bullpen being ignored all offseason. With the rotation struggling, it's not a surprise that the bullpen is now being highlighted. When Kelly was put in for the 10th, it wasn't going to go well. He's just a warm body at this point. He only has one year left of control. At least Watson is theoretically around for a lot longer. Slaten should be back soon. DFA Kelly. Don't even bother sending him to AAA.
  17. I don't care about the parking, but everything the new ownership has done with Fenway has really just been lipstick on a pig.
  18. Cora didn't do anything over the past 5 years to keep his job. I don't know why being the manager of the Sox should be a lifetime contract if you've won one WS and then let your defense be top in errors almost every season and constantly be underwhelming.
  19. Duran, Story and Durbin are all under 600 OPS. How is Durbin the only weak link in the lineup? The only guys that are really pulling their weight are Contreras and Wilyer.
