  1. @redsoxstats Schreiber has had two short stints with the Tigers in 2019 and 2020 with a poor ERA but was 10% better than league average in FIP and xFIP. 26% K, 6% BB, and a strong minor league track record. He slings it from the side. In 2019 between Double-A and Triple- A, he posted a 2.31 ERA in 53 appearances with a 11.1 K/9
  2. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox claimed RHP John Schreiber off waivers from the Tigers. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Red Sox placed LHP Chris Sale on the 60-day injured list.
  3. I buy it. There are many big unknowns going into this year. How does pitching hold up after a weird 2020? What about the prospect pipeline for guys who got no reps in 2020? Will there be cancelled games again in 2021?
  4. He's a lurker. Also was one of the original mods back in 2005.
  5. Less than 0% shot. They are going to develop him as a starter first and foremost. He may transition to the pen at some point to reduce his workload, but it would be only short term.
  6. @PeteAbe Likely not complete list of position guys working out at #RedSox camp: Kiké Hernandez, Rafael Devers, Jeter Downs, Bobby Dalbec, Marcus Wilson, and Alex Verdugo. With Cora back, I hope Devers is in good shape and ready to go. Glad he's already there.
  7. He's worth 2/12, which I think is what I said the Sox should give him earlier in the offseason. If you're $1M over, that gives you enough wiggle room to either go for it at the deadline or trade off salary. They can get back under if they want to.
  8. Isn't there a limited amount that Japanese teams can pay foreign players? He'd be better suited to sitting out and waiting for someone to get injured.
  9. He changed his swing to get more lift in 2020. Scouting reports have stated that he's hitting the ball in the air more. We'll have to see what the results look like this year.
  10. @ChrisCotillo Cora says Kiké Hernandez will move around during games and that he's a plus defender in all 3 OF spots and 2B. "That's the beauty of the team this year, being very versatile and moving people around."
  11. @PeteAbe Cora says @eduardorod5 (ERod) is a “full-go” after missing last season.
  12. @PeteAbe Per MLB/MILB: Triple A will open April 6 (142-game season). Double A and Single A open May 4 (120-game season).
  13. For that guy, yeah.
  14. 1. It DOES make the most sense. 2. The Sox have the money, but would rather not go over just for him. 3. If everyone else passes on JBJ, doesn't that mean his market value just isn't there? Can they sign him for like 5 AAV?
  15. @PeteAbe Sale reveals he had Covid-19 in January. Said he lost his sense of taste and smell but avoided other bad symptoms.
  16. @ChrisCotillo Sale said he spent 5 days a week at JetBlue Park last summer, when allowed (due to COVID protocols). Credits training staff in FL for helping him around. He was the only player at the complex a lot of the time. "The last time I talked to the media, I was showering with a hose."
  17. The Yankees get better EVERY offseason and the Sox just seem to be not as good as they once were EVERY offseason.
  18. Yeah, there are more guys they can get rid of if they need to. I think one of Brice or Walden is gone by the end of ST and replaced by another arm, even if it's just a prospect who starts in AAA.
  19. @jcmccaffrey Chris Sale: "So far so good. Back rolling. As of now I'm a full go." Regarding timetable: "We haven't gotten there yet. Just showing up and taking it a day at a time." Sale on the neck issue: It slowed some things down, but we were on top of it and had great doctors. I showed up yesterday like everyone else. Doing PFPs and throwing. Says he's throwing every other day. Not throwing off a mound yet. Sale: My elbow has been on track since day one, dealt with the neck thing. But nothing off track on (elbow wise). I was here by myself all summer so it's nice to have people back. I've been doing this a while and I've never been so excited for spring training and PFPs and drills
  20. @ChrisCotillo Source confirms: Mitch Moreland in agreement with the Athletics. It's a one-year, $2.25M deal with $250k in incentives. He'll DH for them and play some 1B. @JeffPassan first.
  21. Plawecki is on the IL. I don't think they have to DFA anyone yet. They'll have another week to decide about that.
  22. Sounds good to me if the money is right. Porcello eats innings for breakfast and we have a fragile rotation. Bradley is sufficient in CF and we have nobody to play there.
  23. He could still sign some of these guys at rock bottom prices if he wants to.
  24. That works over 60 games, probably not 162.
  25. Probably, but that’s why I said Hernandez is #2 TODAY.
