    @redsoxstats After a couple of years of horrible depth and relative ease in lopping off large chunks of the 40-man roster, I think the team is finally getting to the point of starting to have to make harder decisions with future transactions.

    Buckner had a 4.5% k rate. He often noted that he'd do his best to choke up and protect the k zone with 2 strikes. He said that he probably would've been much more of a power hitter if he didn't care about striking out.

    Taylor didn't have a long stretch of success. Hard to say what he actually is regardless of COVID.

    I haven't heard either way if they're going that route again. I've heard just as much talk about a 6 man rotation.

    @ChrisCotillo Kickham, Triggs, Godley, Leyer, Lin, Puello, Peraza, Covey, Hall, Hart, Weber, Stock, Tapia, Aybar, Munoz, Grullon, Chatham, Mazza and Springs gone off the 40-man since the end of the year. Puello, Hall, Hart, Weber, Munoz remain in org. Mazza/Springs pending DFAs.

    @MikeSilvermanBB Red Sox players will find JetBlue Park turned inside-out, literally, into a tent-city. For masked fans, it's look, don't touch: Scan yourself in at gate. No cash, please. No live anthem. No hawkers. Head to your seats, 75% of which are zip-tied shut.

    The pen hinges on two things IMO: How good is Ottavino (real wild card)? Can Brasier be the good version again? I think we already know what we are getting out of Barnes for better or worse. Sawamura has some control issues, but the Sox lived with Joe Kelly for a while. Darwinzon could eventually become the leader of the pen if he finds the plate more reliably. Andriese will be fine.

    On Marwin: @ChrisCotillo For now, this is the last outstanding signing for the Red Sox. If the timing works out, the 40-man move can be moving Sale to the 60-day IL.

    @RedSox The #RedSox today signed RHP Hirokazu Sawamura to a two-year contract, with a dual club/player option for the 2023 season. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated LHP Jeffrey Springs for assignment.

    The infrastructure is different. There is little reason for them to plan for record breaking temperatures. However, I've read that the TX energy grid is very outdated. Maybe they can get around to fixing that at some point.

    Astros currently have Myles Straw as projected to play CF. If he's the 2019 version, you go with him over JBJ. If he's the 2020 version, you go with JBJ. They have a very clear need at CF though as there is nobody behind Straw that can field the position. As they are more likely to compete, they should be the ones to sign JBJ. JBJ to the Stros? Dyson to the Sox?

    I don't know what to think of the Phillies. They are projecting to have CJ Chatham on the opening day roster. They have Jankowski as a NRI and Herrera in AAA eating $10M. Two 1st round picks Mickey Moniak 2016 and Cornelius Randolph 2015 ard also sitting in AAA. I could see them not grabbing JBJ and it just being between the Astros and the Sox.

    The Sox need to sign JBJ to a 1 year deal and trade him at the deadline in order to fulfill the prophecy.

    Maybe someone will give him 3 years? It's hard to really say at this point. I think he'd be good for another team with more "payroll flexibility" but it's interesting that he hasn't signed yet.

    They should TJ his other arm so that he can be the next Greg Harris.

    Or just bring them in today since they are going to get TJ in the future and you can get the surgery done now rather than waiting.

    Why ever take a PTBNL then? May as well just postpone every trade because of the off chance a guy gets injured.
