  1. Roenicke didn't exactly cover himself in glory and Cora no longer needs an experienced bench coach. Good hire.
  2. @alexspeier Will Venable - viewed as a rising star in the coaching ranks with a bright managerial future - chosen as Alex Cora’s next bench coach
  3. Mooo...
  4. They don't just watch, they are the 12TH MAN!
  5. @JeffPassan Epstein says in the letter he will spend time with family and work with non-profits, including his Foundation to Be Named Later and The Players Alliance. "I do plan on having a third chapter leading a baseball organization someday, though I do not expect it to be next year."
  6. Only titles matter. I don't think Sox fans after 2003 were thinking, well at least we've been to the WS in the 40's, 70's and 80's.
  7. He's burnt out and wants a year off. "Next summer will be my first in 30 years not clocking into work every day at a major league ballpark."
  8. I was going by longest active streak. Padres and Brewers would be in before the M's.
  9. Right up the Sox alley. They want to spend but aren't going to go for the big contracts.
  10. 9 years with the Guardians 9 years with the Rangers Let's go!
  11. Picking 6 rule V guys that would have to stick on your MLB roster is a very odd thing to do. I could see grabbing 2 or 3 and letting one go during ST. 6? That's just silly.
  12. I don't think many people expected Weber to stay on the 40 man all last offseason.
  13. He didn’t get selected last year. Maybe they think he’ll sneak through again.
  14. We don’t even know next year’s roster so why talk about 2021?
  15. Let’s never post about anything in the future!
  16. @IanCundall I’ll have a lot more on the Red Sox fall instructs over the coming weeks, but a name to watch at the 40-man roster deadline is RHP Eduard Bazardo. Bazardo’s velocity was 93-97, up from 91-95 in 2019. He also has a plus CB with an elite spin rate of ~3000 rpm that he can command. Bazardo was excellent at instructs and threw a lot, so other teams got a good look. If the Red Sox don’t protect him, there’s a good chance a team would take a shot on him in the Rule 5 draft given he has the potential for two plus pitches and at least average control.
  17. Well, maybe a starter than can be turned into a reliever and then back to a starter after a few years?
  18. And at that point, it's just personal preference. I think I'd trust the 07 defense more than the 04 defense. Crisp > Damon Lugo Pedroia > Bellhorn Tek = Tek
  19. He'll be in AA by the end of 2022. May even be pitching for Salem in 2021 depending on his commitment.
  20. Similar Pitchers through 28 Heathcliff Slocumb (990.6) Well, maybe we can trade him to the Mariners!
  21. I'm not going to get worked up over a sinkerball reliever.
  22. Comes down to Lugo vs Bellhorn. Lugo had a higher dWAR in 07 than Bell did in 04. Both had better than normal years.
  23. "YOU NEED TO BE GOOD DEFENSIVELY UP THE MIDDLE." Yankees 2000-2003: Let's just throw Soriano, Bernie and Jeter out there and see what happens...
  24. Interesting that the Yankees collected some of the all time worst 2b: Steve Sax (his only ok defensive years came with the Yanks though) Soriano Chuck Knoblach
  25. Yes, Soriano was bad at 2b, but was good in OF.
