  1. AL should ban the shift, add the pitch clock, add bigger bases and keep the DH. NL can be the "traditional" league. ChiSox also have to have one $1 beer night per year.
  2. This is true.
  3. I would say that the conversations probably have come from within MLB and not from fans. I don't think they've done focus groups or even considered what fans actually want here.
  4. The billionaires should be paying these workers their full salaries regardless. They are locking the players out and in effect locking out these other workers.
  5. I just don't think the feedback about the shift came from the fans at all. I'm not sure MLB looks at ANY feedback from fans.
  6. @NBCSEdgeBB Report: MLB owners have 'turned very pessimistic'
  7. I need to see your research on "more." https://www.shu.edu/business/news/sports-poll-on-baseball-lockout-rule-changes-and-more.cfm End the Shift? Prohibiting the overshifting of infielders found only 36 percent of avid fans in favor, with 44 percent opposing a rule change that would stop the shifts. Among all sports fans, even less supported a prohibition on shifts, with only 24 percent in favor of a ban and 41 percent opposed.
  8. Except for yours. Your posts will endure forever.
  9. Apparently, they have spoken about an international draft during negotiations for the previous two CBA's as well.
  10. Every time I see Lira's name, my brain tells me the first name is Enderson.
  11. Posting on here has never mattered. It's just screaming into the void. I don't think anyone here is deluded enough to honestly think our discussion here impacts anything outside of this site.
  12. Seems fair enough.
  13. @JeffPassan In a voice message sent to a group chat that has been widely shared in Dominican baseball circles, David Ortiz, perhaps the most influential baseball voice in the country, came out strongly against the international draft, according to a copy of the message obtained by ESPN. Ortiz: “The system in the Dominican is not ready to have a draft next year. The Dominican is not the U.S. You can’t snap a finger and everything lines up to operate the right way. We’ve got a new president who’s trying to improve things. We need to do this slowly.” Ortiz: “Baseball is such a big thing in the Dominican. Baseball keeps kids off the streets. We don’t want that to walk away from us. We want it to get better. That’s my focus. Nothing else. We have the youth. People wanting to be me, Pedro, Pujols. We can’t let that go away.” Ortiz: “At the end of the day, I don’t want those kids to be affected by it. I already played baseball. I had a career. I care about the kids being treated right. I understand MLB wants to have control over everything they do, but you’re not going to change the system overnight.” Ortiz: “Baseball is one of the secret weapons of the Dominican economy. If you talk about a draft here in the states, you have choices. You can do football, basketball. You don’t have choices. Dominican has baseball to make your way out. That’s it. You have to be careful.”
  14. I would say his thoughts were given more credence than "posters on other message boards."
  15. I know. It's kinda weird that they are bargaining for how these players are obtained, but then can't bargain for an increase to MiLB salaries.
  16. I believe the changes to the previous drafts (reduction in rounds) were negotiated with the union.
  17. I don't believe this is a direct quote.
  18. Why would this get added to the CBA if the Int'l guys aren't included in the union until they are on a 40 man?
  19. Pass on rebuttal.
  20. I liked the big rosters. Just limit the amount of pitchers that can pitch in a 9 inning game.
  21. The Red Sox weren't even on tv until 1948. Level of competition wasn't as high. I can see why people back then were confused. Plus lead in the gas and all.
  22. @EvanDrellich The meeting between MLB and the MLBPA has ended. Went close to 20 minutes. More TK. Shorter than a Simpsons episode without commercials. Got it.
  23. Anyway, I'd like to hear more about how the CBT shouldn't increase. @TechCrunch Apple TV+ to stream weekly Major League Baseball games in its first live sports deal
  24. And you could probably say the same thing about some other random rich guy who would like to buy a team.
  25. It's noticeable. I've been to enough MiLB games to know that the product is fun, but not as good as MLB.
