  1. Max is the "win now" move. A team like the Astros would need to do that. Maybe LAA? Dodgers just won a WS, so they might be inclined to let Max move on especially since they are still on the hook for Bauer.
  2. Honestly, I'd rather them spend extra to just keep Xander and Raffy signed. I like Schwarber, but I just don't know how much it would take to sign him. I think Castellanos would be a better pick up, but I think we could see a rotating cast of characters at DH once Casas is promoted this year.
  3. I think the "third time through the order" talking point has firmly stuck it's flag in the ground. I think most fans get it now.
  4. Ray is a very unique case. He was a CY pitcher this year, but it's hard for me to see him repeating that performance.
  5. That's just buzzarding.
  6. In the 1800's they were still probably using bags that slid out of the way when you came into contact with them. I guess just bring those back then? Break away bags?
  7. Players already have stickum on their gloves. Just slide head first everytime.
  8. We haven't seen enough out of Bloom to really know what he would do IMO. His first year, he had to slash payroll and deal Mookie/Price to get under the lux tax. In his second year, he needed to fill a roster that had some significant holes, but still stay near the cap. We don't know what it would look like if he was given the opportunity to go over. Maybe he does fill a lot of holes cheaply but splurges on one guy?
  9. Then staying glued to 2b and 3b is part of the rules.
  10. I'm tellin' ya, it's time to party!
  11. Yes, then you can really enforce the rule that batters should be running to the right side of the foul line. It's also a very good safety measure.
  12. Are we going to allow players to overrun 2B too?
  13. At that point, may as well go 4/120.
  14. Are we really adding holograms to baseball? C'mon man. Let's just get an automated strike zone and go from there. I don't think there need to be any other adjustments right now except for adding the orange bag next to 1b. I'm all for that.
  15. Might as well have the 3b coach just call the game at that point.
  16. Schwarber declined his option.
  17. Jamie Moyer only kept pitching because he had multiple personality disorder. One of his personalities was the bus from Speed. He thought that if he stopped pitching he would blow up.
  18. @alexspeier Red Sox assistant GM Raquel Ferreira declines to interview for Mets GM job
  19. Nolan Ryan did throw 1200 innings after he was 40.
  20. I'll give credit to Desmond, he stayed home in 20-21 and started a Not for Profit. I think he's just going to retire.
  21. I would say that I think parents were more forgiving to the younger umps. I heard much more griping when other coaches were umping.
  22. Yeah, calling a game from behind the mound is horrible.
  23. What year was it when you started to phase out? I believe they had instant replay back in the 80's then went away from it and then went back to it.
  24. Pitching is always at a premium. I think we'll see a lot of pitchers get more money than we expected, including ERod.
  25. Yes, Frank Viola was thrown out of a game for arguing balls and strikes against the computer.
