If you replace a great owner with a terrible owner, the fans would notice. However, the overall impact on MLB would be minimal. Some teams would get a better owner than they have now.

We watched Papi fight against the shift for almost his whole career. I didn't have a problem with it then. I don't have a problem with it now.

The shift has been around forever. Players just haven't learned to go the other way. Scoring will go up. Games will be longer.

You can do better elsewhere, but you can also do far worse. The risk at losing money on an MLB team is next to zero since it hasn't happened yet. MLB teams are just status symbols for these old rich dudes. If you get rid of the 30 owners and replaced them with 30 other owners, I'm not sure anyone would notice the difference. If you replaced the 1200 players on each team's 40 man roster and replaced them with the next 1200 guys, the product would suffer immensely.

@jcmccaffrey Minor league position players don't need to report until Thursday. Marcelo Mayer got here two weeks ago. He said today he's excited to get his spring underway. Added 12 lbs this offseason too.

No. July is typically MLB's best attendance month. Summer vacation. Good weather. Maybe tv viewership is a little higher in April?

@jcmccaffrey Alex Cora is here at minor league camp. Said he’s been impressed with the shape Mayer and Yorke are in. Has been keeping an eye on lefty Chris Murphy. Interesting note about Murphy in that he has an ok chance to see MLB games this year.

No, it's the same thing exact thing as the entertainment industry. More than 2/3's of players to appear in MLB make minimum or less.
