  1. Yes, but also his trade value may be relatively low since there are a lot of FA SS that are available right now.
  2. Matz is projected to have a higher fWAR. Just sign a FA if you need a 3rd or 4th starter.
  3. I'd say they should go with Xander as SS for 2022. If they fall out of it and can't extend him, you can probably still move him at the deadline for a pitcher comparable to Urquidy. Bloom would probably move him for prospects though.
  4. The things I do like about him: low bb% throws mostly down in the zone decent movement on his FB What I really, really, really don't like about him: he just can't stay on the field limited ceiling of a third starter, but most likely a 4th starter
  5. There should be. I guess all babies are named Liam these days. Anyways, here's Wonderwall.
  6. Would last year's team have been better if they had Price instead of Richards and Perez?
  7. Did the Dodgers win a WS before they signed Betts? Are the Nats a better team now that they don't have to pay Scherzer? Will the Astros be a better team if Correa signs elsewhere? Of the top 5 payrolls, 4 at least made the WC game this year. Is that correlation?
  8. It's the offseason. The only thing to talk about is what Bloom is going to do.
  9. The cornerstone of this franchise right now is Xander and Raffy. Bloom needs to work all offseason to keep them together for 6 more years.
  10. Because they are trying to get more money out of Vegas.
  11. @SoxProspects Victor Santos pitched 1.2 shutout innings in yesterday's Leones del Escogido 3-2 win. The 21-year-old righty is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA and nine strikeouts over 6.1 IP so far.
  12. Contract the A's. Contract the Pirates. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/pittsburgh-pirates/payroll/ Orioles are on the clock.
  13. Yes, in 2022 it would be a bit strange if your 3rd highest player only made 3M.
  14. Whether he plays or not, he's owed another 6M or so from them next season.
  15. Are they fielding a baseball team or running a Starbucks?
  16. If they want to get rid of salary, it's easy enough to move: Olson 12M Arb Proj Manaea 10M Arb Proj Chapman 10M Arb Proj Bassitt 9M Arb Proj That's over 50% of team salary right there. Trivino isn't the problem if they're trying to make payroll. I'm sure they'd love to get rid of Elvis Andrus, but that would be a harder sell for other teams. They'd have to eat most of Piscotty's salary if they moved him.
  17. Sale? Probably overpaid unless he can come back better. Bogaerts? FMV JD? Overpaid Eovaldi? FMV Devers? Underpaid Barnes? Overpaid (Bloom) Renfroe? FMV Kiké? FMV Vaz? Slightly overpaid? Pivetta? FMV So is your problem just Sale and JD?
  18. Allocating 2.9M towards a closer seems pretty cheap to me.
  19. Maybe only in terms of Price's 16M in dead money.
  20. 3 innings starts is more of a playoff thing than a regular season thing.
  21. Maybe the A's want to keep him around because of his cheap salary?
  22. I'm not sure I see a "surprise" move in the future. I think it's going to be a ho hum offseason and they'll try to extend Xander.
