  1. Souza's 2017 skews his career numbers. Of his career fWAR, 69% comes from 2017. 42% of all his HR's and 38% of all his SB's were in 2017. The only year his OPS exceeded 720 was 2017. I don't see a fit for him here. Would he even be an upgrade over Refsnyder at this point in his career?
  2. 2018: -0.4 fWAR, 84 wRC+ 2019: did not pay 2020: 0.1 fWAR, 59 wRC+ 2021 -0.2 fWAR, 51 wRC+ On a one year deal for 1M. Seems like at age 33, that's a 0 guy to me.
  3. Robles was given a MiLB deal because of the visa issues. I think they are going to put him on the roster, they just don't know how soon he'll be ready. Garza seems to be at the bottom of the power rankings.
  4. Should be. I don't know how long it'll take him to ramp up. His visa issues pushed back his ST debut until this week.
  5. My Netflix algorithm must be pretty messed up if it didn't push that to me.
  6. Statcast did not like his season last year. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/johnny-cueto-456501?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb His velo looks unchanged from previous years?
  7. Going into ST, I think most of us thought the pen would be: Barnes 2 of Wacha, Hill, Whitlock or Houck Brasier Sawamura Taylor DHern Strahm Diekman Clearly, it was a left heavy pen in a division without a lot of lefties. Due to the Sale injury, Wacha and Hill both made the rotation for now. Taylor is also injured and he was replaced by Davis another lefty. DHern again showed his limitations and was optioned to AAA. He was replaced by Valdez, who I had pegged as a DFA candidate. Tyler Danish is on the team for now, but will probably be dropped when the rosters shrink back to 26. Kutter Crawford was throwing straight fire and forced his way into the picture. The current pen: Barnes (closer) Whitlock (high leverage/piggyback with Hill) Crawford (multi inning) Brasier Diekman Sawamura Strahm Davis Valdez Danish Who is the set up man? Sawamura? What do we expect out of Diekman/Strahm? If Barnes falters, do we go to Whitlock or try someone new like Crawford? This bullpen still has the mediocre 2021 feel to it. Can it be better than last year?
  8. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Father_Christmas_Is_Back I can't believe there's a Christmas movie with John Cleese, Kelsey Grammer and Elizabeth Hurley. How'd I miss that one last holiday season?
  9. It would be hilarious whenever the Yahoo autodraft managerless team won. How bad would the league be if a computer that autodrafted a team and made no moves during the year won the championship?
  10. Yahoo autodrafts a 12th team with no manager.
  11. When you can't even get the guy's name right...
  12. @alexspeier Both Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers said they had extension talks with the Red Sox in recent days, but barring a very unexpected development, neither expects an extension prior to Opening Day, and neither wants to discuss contracts in-season
  13. @NBCSEdgeBB Red Sox talked extensions with Devers, Bogaerts
  14. That's an A700 question. He said there are only 10 teams now. Maybe one needs to be taken off the league? Anyway, here's the thread for all the fantasy discussion: https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/20002-2021-TalkSox-Fantasy-Baseball-League-Mike-Grace-Memorial-League?p=1455323#post1455323
  15. Unfortunately, notin won't be able to beat up on Thunder's team this year.
  16. Per the other thread, he hasn't seen the email confirmation.
  17. I don't think Hill is going to be a stopper, but I think he'll be better than 2021 Richards or Perez.
  18. Number of times in 2021 he gave up more than 4 runs in a start: 0.
  19. Rich Hill starts: 3/22 2IP, 2H, BB, 2K, 0R - ok start 3/27 3IP, 1H, 0BB, 3K, 0R - pretty good start 4/1 3.2IP, 11H, 0BB, 1K, 9R - horrible start where the Sox took him out of the game and then brought him back the following inning Which is the outlier?
  20. If you prorate 2020 to a whole season, Hill has only had one season below 1 fWAR since before he was with the Sox last go around in 2015.
  21. I agree on putting $$$ towards the rotation. I'm not sold on Paxton/Hill/Wacha is better than just signing Syndergaard or someone else.
  22. If they are playing like last year, you take a chance on the playoffs. If it's closer to 2019, you sell IMO.
  23. I believe that Bloom has a long term vision. A lot of people shouted that we'd just be Tampa Bay North. I think the Story signing disproves that. I think Bloom wants a strong farm system that can add a few guys to the MLB club every offseason. With a large payroll, you'd start to look more like the Dodgers juggernaut. I think that's the end goal, not the Rays.
  24. I'd sell even if they are "in contention." If they don't have a decent shot at winning it all, just move on.
  25. It very well could be the plan. Xander, JD, Eovaldi, Kiké and Vaz could be all out the door this offseason. I guess there's a outside chance Sale opts out, but I'm not sold on his health this year. If you are in 4th place, may as well trade the guys you don't plan on re-signing.
