  1. Not Red Sox $ + Mookie $ / 2 = Dodgers $? Ok. I think Occam's Razor should be applied here.
  2. Whose pay?
  3. I never said it was. Some people like to infer things on here though.
  4. Being "dismissive" isn't the same as "not penciling in" or "not expecting it." He'll have to earn the playing time next Spring. Maybe he gets a bench spot and produces in April and gets more at bats over time.
  5. As I've said before, baseball players are dumb and don't care about things like the present value of money. He wanted more than $350M and he got it.
  6. I disagree. If they are bringing Hill, Wacha and Eovaldi back again, they need to be prepared for long IL stints again. These guys do take up space on the 40 man. Are they also going to go with the Paxton/Sale experiment again?
  7. He gave in because he finally got $365M which is a f***-ton of money.
  8. Why? This doesn't make sense at all. When you're Mookie Betts, the pandemic doesn't affect your contract. His ask of $420 wasn't a demand, but part of a negotiation. Sox chose to withdraw rather than meet in the middle which would have been close to $365. Makes more sense that $365 is closer to what he actually expected regardless of the pandemic. People just use the pandemic as an excuse for why the contract wasn't as large as they thought it was going to be.
  9. Eovaldi gets riskier and riskier as he gets older. Wacha just has limited upside. You offer a QO to either of them and they gobble it up.
  10. Hill is cheap and can pitch out of the pen so that's fine.
  11. Turner is going to be 30M+. He'll be way more than Bogey.
  12. I wouldn't even pencil in Refsnyder as making the opening day roster. He's been a lifelong backup for a reason. He's been a brightspot for a miserable team. Don't expect it to carry over guys.
  13. 39.9% first pitch swing for Raffy. MLB average is 29.4.
  14. I heard an interview with Speier where he was discussing it directly and had sources state as much.
  15. There's lots of deferred money thrown around these days, that's not abnormal. How can you guys be so sure it was the pandemic?
  16. Morton Ryu
  17. No.
  18. This came straight from Speier from what I remember.
  19. Overall, it hasn't been a good use of resources.
  20. I think Paulino would just drop down to 11 through no fault of his own.
  21. I think one of the SP guys has him top 10?
  22. That's because he's a good hitter. If he hits well at the start of next season, Sox may look into extending him and buying out a year or two of FA.
  23. Sale extension and re-signing Eovaldi (the feel good move after the WS). The Bogey contract was good. If anything, DD should have opened his wallet and overpaid Mookie.
