    Astros are extending Alvarez earlier in his career than the Sox are "attempting" to do with Devers. The Alvarez extension would be if the Sox signed Devers to an extension in 2020. I think the Sox wait too long to offer the first extension.

    Hold your nose with Andrelton Simmons for a year? He's been dreadful this season though. Maybe they deal for a young guy that can bridge you to Mayer.

    @SoxProspects Freili Encarnacion went 3-for-4 with two doubles (2), two RBI (2), and a walk in today's 7-5 DSL Red Sox Red victory. The 17-year-old shortstop is #42 on the #SP60.

    Downs is in a slump. However, a slumping Downs is still more likely to play 2b for The Sox than Duran. That's how committed they are to not moving on from the OF experiment for Duran.

    Opening Day for Dominican Summer League Fraymi De Leon started off the season 2 for 2, BB, 2 R Freili Encarnacion started off the season 2 for 2, 2B, R, RBI, BB Both SS are on different DSL squads.

    The plan at the start of the season was some combination of Cordero/Renfroe/Verdugo. We can all say now: it was just Verdugo in LF, Kiké in CF and Renfroe in RF. Yes, that's how it shook out, but that's not how it was at the outset of the season. Through May 15, Verdugo had 21 appearances in CF. Verdugo should never play CF. He's slow and not a great defender. When Kiké was signed, they said it was mainly to be a 2b. The only person on here who was leading the charge to put him in CF was moon. The plan at the beginning of the season didn't make sense. They figured it out by mid May. They didn't have it figured out on April 1.

    I think Trot Nixon is blurry. It's not the photographers fault. It's very scary to me that there is a Trot Nixon roaming the countryside that is out of focus.

    Ok, but it's been 3 straight years of weird decisions in the OF and the pen. Last year, 1b worked itself out. I think it could figure itself out again.

    Aside from Strahm and Schreiber, the rest of the pen hasn't really earned any sort of defined role. They've been hot garbage.

    That's not true. I don't even know why we're talking about this old s*** anymore. He was signed a decade ago. He's off the books. It doesn't matter. I was right all along, BTW.
