  1. That guy sounds horrible. Who the hell would want to hang out with a Mets fan?
  2. funWAR and boringWAR.
  3. Worth $10M according to FanGraphs!
  4. And remember, he had a 708 OPS away from the friendly confines of the WOO launching pad last season. I think he's most likely a smoke and mirrors guy.
  5. They transitioned him to the OF not because he was a butcher at 2B, but because they wanted to better utilize his speed in the OF. I think now they are so far into the experiment that they don't want to go backwards. I think they probably should have seen how horrible it was looking in 2020 in PAW and pushed him back to the IF. And DH? He just hasn't shown that power potential in MLB.
  6. "Hey, you want to come up to Boston where we can pay you more money?" Probably a tough sell. Maybe he likes the people he already has? Maybe Sam Kennedy, Ben Crockett, Eddie Romero and Brian O'Halloran have convinced Chaim that he doesn't need to have to poach from other teams?
  7. Per Jayson Stark, umps can be fired after receiving tenure after 3 years, it's just difficult and is very long process.
  8. If they switched to AAA umps, nobody would notice a thing. Also, with most unions, you can fire union employees that are underperforming as Angel Hernandez is. While I've read the MLBPA union contract, I really have no interest in reading the MLBUA contract. If I was still at my previous miserable job... maybe.
  9. I think trading Yorke now is trading him when his value is at a low point and doesn't make sense. For Rafaela, it may be at at it's highest point.
  10. Jake wants $50. Noah signed for $21 last offseason. How cheap would he be?
  11. He's still injured? He pitched for the whole season. He just sat out for 2 years. When is he going to be healthy?
  12. Killer was a great ballplayer. The worst 500 HR guy is Sammy Sosa. 58.6 WAR and can't even blame it on being a DH. Yuck. 128 OPS+? C'mon man!
  13. When? He'll be 27 next year. He's been playing OF since 2018 and he's still really bad. Is it going to take another 5 years?
  14. I'm all for any changes they want to try. The only thing they've done recently was "let's mess around with the ball and see what happens." I don't like that.
  15. It's going to be glorious if a player strikes out at the end of a game due to stepping out and not calling time. That's real baseball. Just stand in the box and swing the bat.
  16. He should have been able to hire anyone he wanted last offseason.
  17. https://www.bostonsportsjournal.com/2020/10/23/mcadam-red-sox-managerial-search-starts-heat-one-potential-candidate-appears-beyond-reach But per an agreement with the Rays, forged a year ago when Bloom left Tampa Bay to join the Red Sox, Bloom is prohibited from hiring anyone from Tampa Bay -- both front office and uniformed personnel -- for a period of two years. (Bloom has hinted that some restrictions were put in place upon his joining the Sox, but has declined to specify them. He declined comment for this story).
  18. Every top 10 attendance team of 2019 (NYY, BOS, LAD, LAA, PHI, CHIC, STL, HOU) has a smaller average attendance in 2022. Is the game anymore analytical now than in 2019, I don't think so. Is it more expensive? Yup. That's where I'm pointing my finger.
  19. Yes, 20 years ago, radio talk show callers were complaining about OBP being an advanced stat thought up by the Red Sox computers and that they should just go back to hitting homeruns over the monster like back in the 70's and 80's. WEEI even made dumb songs like "You Down with OBP" to make fun of it.
  20. I thought it was 2 years. When did it move to 3?
  21. He just can't pitch that way anymore if you look at his statcast. He just isn't that guy. His xERA, xBA, xSLG, Brl are all bottom 23rd and worse. He's a pitch to contact guy now who is still getting hit pretty hard. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/noah-syndergaard-592789?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb
  22. Is Syndergaard that good anymore? His k rate is way down from what I remember the last time I looked. He seems ok, but he's not the guy he was with the Mets.
  23. As long as guys like Angel Hernandez have jobs, I will call for robo k zones. A fallible k zone is not entertainment to me.
  24. No way does that deal get done in real life.
  25. BTV accepted: Yelich Devin Williams 120M Hosmer Winckowski Houck
