  1. With Whitlock in the rotation, it makes sense. Houck starts off as the closer, but moves back to set up guy.
  2. That's 50M before he gets his gas bill this winter... The ask will probably go up. I'm not sure how they know what Raffy would actually take.
  3. He was fired because of the Vaz trade.
  4. I heard he had Anatidaephobia: the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you.
  5. Just wait until XXXXX is gone.
  6. If not, what do you think the plan is at SS? No FA? Kiké? Story? Cheap FA? Andrus/Iglesias?
  7. Is there a scoring system here?
  8. It would be the Sox' biggest contract of all time. It's a risk for sure. Cora likes him. He's an MVP candidate when at the top of his game. Bogey's power was way down and his fielding as you've reminded us so very often is "below average" at best. The only benefit is that he's best pals with Raffy and is a great clubhouse fit.
  9. I want to believe.
  10. I think he could be a little cheaper due to age, QO and maybe his comfort level in BOS?
  11. Hard to say what Ward is? Even pre-surgery, he seemed to get bye in spite of his high bb rate. SoxProspects liked him, but were unsure how his stuff would play at higher levels. Walter should be a fair back end of the rotation guy, but coming the injury is a question mark. Always old for his level, but did well in AA. Murphy is probably just a reliever, I'll give you that. They may give him a few spot starts. Mata should be the best out of this bunch. I think he'd be a lights out late inning guy if he scrapped one of his offspeed pitches.
  12. There's always room for Aaron Cooke and Carlos "Hi Ho" Silva.
  13. Depending on what happens this offseason: Mata, Murphy, Walter, Ward.
  14. Rosters ARE larger now. Did any MLB teams go with a 6 man rotation for a significant stretch during 2022? I don't remember it happening.
  15. It makes him an obvious EVERY TEAM target. The problem is that you pay a premium to bring him here. Is it worth it?
  16. Are we talking 4 years for Eovaldi and 4 years for Taillon? Since 2016: Eovaldi 3.93 k/bb, xFIP 3.79 Taillon 3.66 k/bb, xFIP 3.89 It probably comes down to personal preference.
  17. I used to post a lot more from home, but then your kind showed up.
  18. Correa has done it 5 times in 8 years and is 2 years younger. (You're dinging 20 year old Correa with a 135 OPS+ who played half the season in AA and AAA?) Bogey has done it 5 times in 8 years and is 2 years older. If you change the metrics to any plate appearances with OPS+ 124 or better: Correa is 6 out of last 8 years Bogey is 5 out of last 8 years
  19. Every time I make an intelligent post, I need to follow it up with one that uses negative brain cells that only amuses myself.
  20. I agree. My preference is to Bogey as it should help with re-signing Raffy and I believe the Sox could move Xander off position once a younger guy is ready for SS.
  21. What's Taillon's upside? 3 fWAR? His velo is 2 mph down from his 3+ fWAR days in 17-18. I don't think that's coming back in this lifetime.
  22. I'm fine with it.
  23. It's 220, but we don't know the years mentioned. 220/8 220/10 I'm not sure Devers signs for that until he tests the market.
  24. Figure it out later.
