  1. I'm not sure Senga is even an ace. He's a good pitcher, but probably just an Eovaldi replacement without the injury risk.
  2. It's a gamble just like any other season. I think even penciling Sale in for anything is a gamble. He was pretty shaky down the stretch in 2021 from what I remember. It's a "Wild Card Contending" rotation, I guess. If they went to the trade market and grabbed a younger ace it would make the rest of the rotation look a hell of a lot better. The problem is the tippity top of the rotation, not 2-5.
  3. Hard to take care of the ray tank in the winter.
  4. If they get Senga, they don't get Eovaldi IMO. It's one or the other. More likely they grab Eovaldi than Senga. Sale Kluber Eovaldi Bello Pivetta This pushes Paxton and Whitlock to the pen. I'd keep Crawford and Winckowski as swing men that can switch back and forth between starting and relieving. The problem I have with this rotation is that there really isn't anyone you can rely on to lead the staff. Without dealing for an ace via trade, I don't know where that guy would come from either unless Bello gets a rocket strapped to him this year (which I don't see).
  5. When a poster never actually makes a decision and just complains... Sad! The only time a700 liked and offseason was 2011.
  6. Kluber isn't a 4. 2022 Kluber would have been the #2 on the 2018 Red Sox.
  7. I've penciled him in for a few of my scenarios. It's fine with me.
  8. You wanted to give Wacha a QO. Kluber was a 3 fWAR guy last season.
  9. Ward and Wallace are at least close enough to provide value to the BOS bullpen. It's not like you are stashing Groome for another lost year or some of the other guys they have sat on for no real reason like Marcus Wilson.
  10. Not great!
  11. Bloom traded Beni at his absolute lowest value. Made no real sense.
  12. I think the Sox have a lot of capable guys in the minors. Clearly, they can't all fit into the rotation. I think Crawford, Winckowski and others would be better in the pen especially if their stuff is playing up.
  13. 100%, plus he'll be about $2.5M this year.
  14. Wacha was smoke and mirrors last year. I don't want them to overpay for Heaney though. I'm not sure what's going on there.
  15. Maybe he'd do well at a LHB park like MIL or CIN.
  16. Horrible swing for Fenway. I wouldn't take him for anything more than $5M AAV here.
  17. That was a long time ago and he's been very injured and struggle to come back.
  18. Paulino and Bonaci are far away. Wikelman is far away, but it's risky to leave him unprotected. I believe Ward was left unprotected due to health concerns, but I would have protected him for sure. I believe Fernandez ended the season with an injury, but he's close to providing an MLB team with bullpen help. I don't think Koss, Jimenez or Bastardo would be selected. Politi or Wallace could be selected, but there are probably better options available on other rosters.
  19. @MacCerullo #RedSox roster news: RHP Jake Reed was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers, and C Caleb Hamilton cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A. Both were DFA’d earlier this week after being claimed following the end of the season. Bloom still has his man. Actually, getting a defensive first guy with a platoon bat that can hang out in AAA all year is good.
  20. Seemed long enough to me. Or maybe it's been repeated so often that it just feels long.
  21. Oh, no.
  22. Yes.
  23. You can add it to the list of grievances when the time comes if Ward succeeds elsewhere.
  24. The nontender deadline is generally the date where nothing really happens anyway. Brasier was bottom 3% in hard hit and bottom 5% in exit velo. His good stretches were solely due to luck. At 35, it's safe to let him go away as he's now due for a raise in arbitration.
  25. Scouts drink the Kookaid more.
