  1. And it's not Bloom's fault that Mookie skipped town. You can complain about not getting "enough" of a return. You'd be wrong, but you have a right to that complaint. That's on Henry/DD.
  2. I've been saying this for months plus a few days.
  3. The same thing.
  4. MLB draft picks are a huge crap shoot. That really has so little to do with how your farm system is ranked. They had a cheap RH'd OFer and dumped him. They spent money on a closer and his arm disappeared. They chose not to put real money on a guy like Jensen and put it towards JBJ/Diekman instead. It was a choice. They still went over.
  5. Downs' hit tool is just not really improving. He's still hitting under 200 in his second season in AAA. While his OPS has improved a bit, I'm not sure it's enough to keep him around.
  6. Whether Brady was run out of town or just didn't want to live near dumpy Foxboro in the cold winter anymore is up for interpretation. I think it's unsurprising that he went somewhere warm and to a team that he could just pull a Brett Favre on. It's good for the Bucs short term, long term they are in trouble.
  7. I know. I commented above that going all in 2016-18 wasn't the problem. It was what came after.
  8. I would want my NFL head coach to win rings, not press conferences. Some in the media understand how to get more out of Bill and ask the right questions. Some are just goobers who can't wait for his downfall, because they fear anyone smarter than themselves.
  9. I wasn't thinking of the Bogey extension. Bogey is worth every penny. The Pearce contract was small potatoes.
  10. Eovaldi extended for 4 years: 2019: bad 2020: ok, but hard to judge because it was only partial year 2021: great 2022: bad Sorry, but I think the Eovaldi extension was a bad one. I know we all like Nasty Nate TM here. It's time to admit it wasn't a good contract.
  11. It was Sale AND Eovaldi. Two questionable moves for guys with health concerns. This directly led to Mookie going to LA.
  12. They've hated him for a lot longer than that. The knives have been out for years.
  13. It's the easiest story to write.
  14. Can you believe they DFA'd the backup catcher that can't play a lick?!?
  15. That doesn't sound like them at all!
  16. No, we are seeing the results of extending guys after winning it all in 2018 to risky contracts. This was caused by the mismanagement in the 2018-19 offseason.
  17. Even just as a platoon bench bat, he has value for the Sox.
  18. Guys that I'd consider keeping for one reason or another: Hosmer Barnes Dalbec Danish Seabold Kelly Bazardo Ort Ranking the relief arms in terms of keepers: Kelly>Bazardo>Ort(take out that time he was hung out to dry against to TOR and his numbers are ok)>Danish I think they can make a case that there are better replacements than Ort and Danish and can DFA those 2, but keep Kelly and Bazaro (both are younger too). Barnes still shows me a spark every once in a while. I think he plays out the string here and I'm fine with him in a 6th/7th inning role. For now, I'd keep both Hosmer and Dalbec until they find better replacements. I think they hold onto Seabold a little longer and see if his stuff comes back. If it doesn't, then they'll probably move him sometime next week. He still has some upside left and can be a spot starter in case of injury.
  19. Maybe he wasn't really well liked then?
  20. As if... Hunter Renfroe Age 30 8.7 fWAR Dwight Evans Age 30 36.8 fWAR
  21. He needs to make sure that he doesn't trade for guys that are well liked in the future. That way they are easier to deal off whenever.
  22. And if they traded Kevin Plawecki, there would have been similar complaints from players at the time. None of us on here have inside knowledge about what goes on in the clubhouse. Saying "were you in the clubhouse" only serves to stifle conversation. What I was posting about was the reaction from posters on TalkSox. On here, nobody gave two shits about Christian Vazquez until he was traded. It seemed to be just another reason to bitch about the guy in charge.
  23. Well, you ended up being wrong.
  24. The Vaz trade was really weird. Overnight, he became a "team leader" who needed to be given a long term deal. How did he go from a defensively overrated guy who throws the ball around too much, but has a few big hits on his resumé to a modern day Sox Rushmore player? Baffling.
  25. The lost seasons keep adding up.
