  1. I thought the shift call was not going to be up for replay review?
  2. It's like complaining that players don't play pepper before games anymore.
  3. We know math isn't moon's strong suit.
  4. JBJ isn't the only guy with a good glove that can't hit, he's just a very expensive version. Why even go that route? It doesn't really make much sense.
  5. I think they should have considered moving him back to 2b once they saw that OF wasn't working out. I mean, how many years to you give a guy before he learns to track a fly ball?
  6. Yeah, he's fast so even if his instincts aren't great, his speed will make up for it... Well, that definitely worked out as planned. LF only glove and his bat needs to carry that position.
  7. Which is why going over in 2022 to get JBJ did not make sense. Just trade Renfroe for prospects and hope JBJ gets DFA'd.
  8. They needed to see if Duran could play CF. He couldn't. Some people on here thought he wouldn't be that bad and that he could figure it out. haahahahahahahahahahahah
  9. It's the rest of the team I'm worried about.
  10. Don't buy any property Verdugo...
  11. Management didn't want to punt on the season. They wanted to stay as competitive as possible, because they weren't really bad enough to get Mayer part 2. They also felt the returns at the deadline weren't significant enough to part ways with Eovaldi or JD. If Wacha had been healthy at the time, maybe he would have fetched something better.
  12. Isn't this more likely due to injury than just Devers not being good anymore? I mean, the timeframe you are picking is basically when he came off the IL...
  13. I think that seems to be the more likely scenario. Plus, the FA market this offseason doesn't seem that great IMO.
  14. It wasn't my plan. It's Bloom's to figure out. I wouldn't have signed Paxton at all. He makes Sale look like Lou Gehrig. They would be on the hole for $35M for them next season. I do remember you being staunchly pro-Paxton when he was in the pinstripes though. What changed? Is Bloom really going to have 7-8 veteran starting pitchers on the payroll? Is that the right way to build a roster? He's lucky that Pivetta is so cheap. I just can't see him going the FA route again. We saw it with the injuries this year. When you have multiple 30+ year old guys, expect lots of IL time.
  15. Binelas has played a little bit better as of late, but yeah that trade really sucked. I think I've stated elsewhere that it has been Bloom's most illogical move.
  16. And that's with injuries to Story, Kiké and lengthy runs of JBJ and Plawecki.
  17. Do they retain Xander? JD isn't a middle of the order bat anymore. They could bring him back on cheaper dollars, but they are more likely to split the DH role between several players and using the $$$ elsewhere. "At least" 3 starters? They already have Sale, Paxton and Pivetta under contract. I'd be surprised if they brought in MORE than 3. Do the Sox even value having a "closer"? They really didn't stick anyone with that role at all this year. They could have thrown anyone into that position on day one and chose not to. Should they have? Probably.
  18. Bashing the GM is an easy gig. A lot of these other opinions that have been offered by Stork are just laughable though.
  19. For pure ceiling potential, Nate is far superior to Wacha in most every way except age.
  20. I'm not saying it's a good rotation. Maybe he has something better planned? It seems similar to rotations he has planned in the past? It worked in 2021, but not this year.
  21. What if Bloom spells ace "Chris Bassitt"? I'm not sure he is willing to add deGrom or Rodon.
  22. Eovaldi is overpaid at 17AAV right now. Wacha has a 3.90 xFIP with a career low 242 BABIP and career high 81.7 LOB%. His xERA is 1.50 runs higher than his ERA. He has looked ok, but a lot of it is due to luck. Too bad he's doing it on a s***** Sox team. On the open market, he's not getting 18M. No way.
  23. I don't have anything against the idea of trading Pivetta. I think the QO's to Eovaldi/Wacha are an open conversation and not really settled one way or another. I wish I felt more certain about what would happen with Sale, but his the epitome of high ceiling/low floor guy. He could theoretically come back and get a CY or just never make another appearance. It's really hard to say. I have no real idea what Bloom thinks his rotation will be next season. If I had to wager a guess right now (in no particular order): Sale Stripling Pivetta Whitlock Paxton Depth would be Bello/Mata/Winckowski(pen)/Crawford(pen)
  24. They'd take it, but isn't that just wasting Henry's money when you could spend it on other players? Why overpay Eovaldi and Wacha?
  25. I'd be really surprised if Wacha gets a QO. I think he's in Steven Matz territory from last offseason. A similar guy who had a bounce back year at age 30 and did NOT get a QO. He signed for 4/44. I think Wacha is more likely to get something like that rather than a QO. Eovaldi? He was fantastic at age 31 last year, but injuries have always been in his rearview mirror. Even according to FanGraphs Value chart, Eovaldi was only worth over $20M one time since 2016. Maybe try to re-sign him at 2/26?
