  1. No, it's 70,000 posts of him doing a bit.
  2. It was a third party that leaked.
  3. I was responding to the "he wasn't a butcher" remark. Yes, they need to get someone. They probably should have just kept Renfroe and let him go year to year in arbitration. It would have worked out better for them. Maybe they sign Conforto?
  4. What calendar year did the Boston Red Sox trade him in?
  5. I only looked at Renfroe's RF numbers.
  6. Should be a good conversation for Thanksgiving Dinner.
  7. He's an MiLB guy. Probably only sees time in WOO and never gets on the 40 man. Better than Christin Stewart?
  8. Strahm wants the opportunity to start. That won't happen with the Sox.
  9. Who can't they only sign All Stars?
  10. People thought there was a chance he'd be nontendered only because people in the media had mentioned it. The trade was a bad trade. The vast majority of posters hated it from day one. I really can't think of anyone who said it was a brilliant move and that Hunter would bust.
  11. He had 12 errors in RF for the Red Sox. By old school standards that's NOT GOOD! That is worse than a prorated Wily Mo Pena 2006 Season.
  12. @redsoxstats One thing the Red Sox are in desperate need of is pitchers that can put away batters with 2 strikes. Rodriguez was at 23.8% last year, which would have been second on the Red Sox after Schreiber's 24.3%. @redsoxstats The contact made against Rodriguez this year most closely matched Daniel Bard, Jorge Lopez, Kendall Graveman, and Rafael Montero. Walks are going to need to tick back down, but there is a good shot this is more Strahm than Diekman.
  13. They pulled the plug on the ArRFoyo experiment too soon!
  14. Crook had 800+ OPS in AAA the past 2 seasons. Likes to k. In his short time in the Cubs organization, Crook has won many fans for his positive attitude and friendly demeanor. (People who knew him in the Reds organization raved about his character as well.) As outlined in Birch’s article, Crook is always willing to sign autographs and take photos with young fans. He does have a price for his time, however: he insists the people he signs for and/or takes pictures with promise to do something nice for someone else in the next two weeks. He’s all about paying it forward.
  15. Fast and Furious Part 2 @SoxProspects The Red Sox have signed minor league free agent outfielder Narciso Crook spent most of last year in AAA with the Cubs affiliate, getting a very short stint in MLB during which he made his debut.
  16. Wow, that seems awfully similar to the same reason that the Sox had to dump Renfroe in December 2021: Boston is a SMALL MARKET TEAM with MULTIPLE MLB-READY PROSPECTS that play his position. Evidence for Boston being a small market team: fans can't stop worrying about their owner's checkbook, team forced to cut salary in recent years, reset reset reset. Evidence for Boston having multiple prospects/replacements to take over for Hunter: Cordero 275 PA in 2022, Duran 223 PA in 2022, Refsnyder 177 PA in 2022. Evidence for this post being sarcastic: my previous 54,000+ posts.
  17. I'm going to re-write the post because you were clearly hit with a cartoonish sized hammer this morning and you currently have birds circling around your brain.
  18. And the Sox can point to Rendon's vastly superior defense and seasons of 6.4, 5.9 and 5.9 fWAR prior to the signing. Devers has only been above 5 once.
  19. @ChrisCotillo Full details: 2023- 1.5m salary + 2m in active roster bonuses 2024- 4.25m club option Buyout: 500k Up to 250k each year in performance bonuses for games pitched Total guarantee 2m. Max earnings 8.25m over two years. Strahm was signed for 3M last season. Seems to be what Joely was signed to be. In 2021, Joely's BB rate was close to what Strahm's was in 2022 and we were happy with his performance.
  20. As always.
  21. I agree. Those deals usually come at a massive discount.
  22. @redsoxstats Rodriguez is a fine signing. He has pitches that can baffle both RH and LH hitters. Very good at limiting hard contact and barrels. Definitely an arm to work with. Issues: another reliever with major walk issues after stated that was a big problem. Pitched in low leverage spots.
  23. I understand that part. It's just tough to figure out "how much" to adjust it for.
  24. We play fast and loose with the rules around here.
