    Hard for a LHP to really bury a pitch low and away against a RHB, but especially for Hall who comes in on RHB's with his sweeper and curve. An 85 mph changeup at the top of the zone seems like a meatball to me. Per Statcast, the changeup is typically down in the zone for him, but he left both of his up to Story. Just a bad pitch.

    I'm not sure there's been a start where Crochet has had his best stuff this year. If they didn't start Story, they lose the game. Maybe even IKF with his good defense at 3B. Cora made the right call and pinch hit Durbin. Sometimes it works out. It was going to be a high K game and going with Anthony/Story/Mayer/Duran was going to really put some zeros on the board early.

    Durbin's two RBI this season haven't been on scalding hit balls, but balls just put in play. Simply cutting down on k's and moving runners along will score runs.

    I summarized it in the prior post. Per Speier, 187 teams have gone 2-8 to start the season in the WS era. Only 12 have gone to the playoffs.

    Story is not the right guy. He's been out of the lineup for most of his tenure. Coulombe? A $1M reliever??? Sandoval hasn't pitched 1 inning!

    That's less of a big deal when it's still April 7th. The problem is that overall disfunction of the Red Sox. If there was a clear plan and it was just misfiring, then you they could continue on course.

    The only good that can come from this game is if Contreras gets hit in his first AB and the benches clear. This team needs to get fired up. Contreras HATES the Brewers (24 HBP's in his career, went in spikes high vs Hamilton, had comments after the game). Some early game fireworks could be good for this team.

    They made sure to find enough 1 year deals here and there to make it look like they were spending so that some dopes would be happy year to year. It was obvious that trading Mookie was an extreme shift in methodology and not for the better.

    I think you can go the young route while filling in the gaps with several veterans. The Sox forgot about the last part.

    Varitek has had several interviews with other teams for their open managerial roles but has not received an offer. It's interesting that he is still just working with the pitchers (Game Planning and Run Prevention Coach) and hasn't become a bench coach under Cora. Typically, bench coach is the next step before manager.
