  1. But they signed the highest AAV pitcher since Price last season!!! 30 pitchers signed for higher AAV's since 2020 than Walker Buehler, none by the Sox and many of whom should have been signed by the Sox.
  2. They said they wanted to focus on defense this offseason. Why would they upfront sign Alonso? If they signed Alonso and Suarez, the IF defense would be a nightmare, especially with Story's regression.
  3. I disagree. They don't budge on anyone. Every player resides in their own vacuum.
  4. Hell no. They go by their models. Why would they ever disagree with their models?
  5. That's ignoring how horrible Alonso's glove is and how good Bregman's glove is. Alonso is probably set to be a DH in 2-3 years. Bregman can stay at 3b for the full term of his deal, which is why he's going to be paid more.
  6. LOL... Savant says 48, but we'll just go with your models I guess???
  7. Breslow isn't a great communicator. This has been known going back to the time of his hiring.
  8. The Bregman deal was less of an overpay than the Alonso one. Alonso last 3 years: 8.5 fWAR Bregman last 3 years: 12.1 fWAR
  9. He says the same thing every time he misses out on a deal. Why would this time be any different?
  10. It's not an overpay if that's what the market is bearing. Two teams were in that ballpark. Last year, another team was up there too.
  11. It's the point in the offseason where it's almost "best player available." They can still bring in a premium player at another position and grab a stopgap for 3b (like Arenado).
  12. I'm worried about regression with Giolito's numbers too. His ERA should be closer to his FIP or worse next season. He was lucky as all get out in '25.
  13. Per AJ Pierzyski, Breggie was frustrated the Sox didn't meet his market after their initial offer. Breggie went back to them with the higher offer from the Cubs and the Sox didn't believe it existed. Refused to bring their offer up as it would be bidding against themselves.
  14. That is not true. A lot of accountants die in their chairs. Many public firms can't get their partners to retire and churning those spots to younger senior managers.
  15. I don't think it's likely that they acquire Donovan AND Arenado. Probably one or the other.
  16. All we know is the Sox got outbid again.
  17. Notin referenced Ranger Suarez in the post before mine.
  18. Would you rather Giolito in the rotation or Early? I'd rather Early.
  19. If he retires, the remaining money comes off the CBT.
  20. Twitter probably loses its mind everyday about the Red Sox. Should the FO care? It's about putting the best team on the field that it can afford.
  21. If they bring in Paredes, they are done for the offseason. Zero chance they sign Suarez considering the money it would take and the QO attached.
  22. InEpstein wasn't a common term used on this site. FranCOMA got a lot of run though.
  23. He's a better to above average 3b now. He'd be Eugenio Suarez level 4-5 years from now. Would be fine with me TBH.
  24. Cubs offer was more money sooner and with a no trade clause. Sox just didn't really come close enough. Breggie had the Sox offer in hand for a long time and wasn't happy with it. The second he got the offer from the Cubs he signed.
  25. I just put this post on the blockchain. If anyone wants to buy NFT's of notin's old posts, let me know.
