    I don't remember being restless at that point? Sox were coming off the ALCS. The pre-injured Story was signed to a large contract and the collective feedback from RSN was a shrug.

    At this point, with him missing substantial time AGAIN this year, I'm going to disagree with the last sentence. Everything he does leads to an injury. It's not a "freak injury" it's just him living with his fragility.

    Sox are very light in the scouting department these days. They are heavily reliant on internal data models for their acquisitions. That change points directly to Craig Breslow. While the Sox are cutting their staffing, the Dodgers, Yankees and Rays are increasing their scouting. That they are so impossible to deal with that agents steer players elsewhere and other orgs don't like picking up the phone for them. I'm looking for the specific article that ranked all the MLB orgs with quotes, but Google stinks now. 😾

    Eddie Matthews was nicknamed the Santa Barbara Bomber. Pablo exploded his belt. They are basically the same player.

    Sox don't hit RHP well. Royals don't hit LHP well. Wacha has won all 4 of his starts vs AL Central teams. This does not bode well for the AL Central Boston Red Sox.

    Who knows if he can replicate last season's numbers? He didn't go on a crazy tear, he was just consistent day in and day out. If we start seeing his numbers go up, he'll earn his spot. It took 10 games to get from 500 to 600 OPS. It took another 30 games to get from 600 to 700 OPS. This pacing would be the weekend of July 4th. He actually peaked at 744 on 9/18.

    Story was a bad signing from day one. I don't know how the argument started. He hasn't been worth the contract and there's no chance of it working out.

    Brez was 12th in line last go around. It will be even further down the list of resumés this time. If you don't like Brez, just wait until the next even more inexperienced guy comes aboard. He may be even more impossible to communicate with. John Henry has created a FO atmosphere that is so toxic that it's not a serious job opportunity.

    Story 90 OPS+, 267 games Bogey 104 OPS+, 449 games Per 162 doesn't matter if a player can't stay healthy and is just wasting your payroll.

    Is this really true though? I have my complaints about Breslow. I think he's a terrible communicator. I think he's gotten absolutely washed in some trades. He comes off as aloof to me, not smug & righteous.

    I liked Breslow's offseason last year. I didn't like his offseason this year. I guess we'll do another coin flip.

    Winnay has been on a tear all month. 1211 OPS after posting a 644 OPS in April. All the underlying metrics have looked great for Azocar even going back to last season. He's been in SAL for 100+ games now, so the only thing holding him back would be playing time at GRE (Yophery/Jackson/Gonzales). Maybe a corresponding promotion would be needed?

    Only 3 XBH for Arias in the last 12 games. I keep missing the POR Eyanson starts. I hope my schedule frees up so that I can catch the next one.

    Tim Naehring was really bad early on in his career. Will Middlebrooks after 2013. Aaron Hill stunk. Wilton Veras in 2000. I'd probably pinch hit those guys for Durbin. Caleb Durbin makes Pablo Sandoval look like Eddie Matthews.

    Lots of coaches will take the gig. Nobody left to fill the CBO position if they fire Brez.

    The problem is that it's not one 0-4 day. This Monday is Memorial Day and the team is WAY below .500. This has been 8 weeks of failure.

    Who knows? Maybe. Can he even pull off a trade though?

    The main argument for keeping Bregman was his work behind the scenes in helping mentor and lift up young players. Sox offense has tanked without him. If you only look at players on a spreadsheet the way Breslow does, you build an offense that is at the bottom most categories and wonder how you got there.
