  1. I agree about the Dodgers. They were a .500 team without him last year. Don't see why that would change now.
  2. I wonder what this does to the Dodgers. Are they still the team to beat in that division?
  3. You know Yankee fans are licking their chops right now. It won't be long before they swarm in here.
  4. I think "disappointed, not surprised" will be the general consensus on this one. Looks like Conseco has struck again with his accuracy.
  5. Haha, just beat you to it.
  6. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-manny-ramirez8-2009may08,0,6324894.story Discuss.
  7. Reminds me of Antonio Alfonsucka. He could blow a save and then strike someone out, and he'd be flailing his arms around like he was God's gift to relief pitchers.
  8. It was definitely intentional. But no, he shouldn't be suspended. ORS and Kilo are right, though. His antics on the mound in a losing effort are pretty embarrassing.
  9. Michael Kay needs to stop drinking the Yankee kool-aid. "He's got it all working tonight." 4 runs in 5 innings qualifies as a good start because he's struck out 10, I guess.
  10. At least you still have 3 of the players left that you wanted.
  11. Wow, that's awful. Say what you want about George, but Hank and Hal are running this organization into the ground.
  12. I didn't really want to take Volstad this early, but starting pitching is getting a little thin. Judging by the trends I figured the next time my pick came up there wouldn't be much left. Volstad is still largely unproven, and I was torn between him and Scherzer, but so far Scherzer hasn't been able to go deep into games whereas Volstad has. I think Scherzer has a chance to be the next Schilling. I think Volstad has a chance to be the next Halladay. Still, I would have liked to have taken a position player in this round.
  13. Chris Volstad
  14. Cool. Hat tricks by Ovechkin and Crosby. That might be the series to watch.
  15. Wow, Jeter towered over that home plate ump.
  16. Yeah, I'd say he would have had a real good shot at an inside the park HR.
  17. I don't mind the McLouth pick. He's still relatively young and 5-toolsish. Hardly ever gets caught stealing; his career ratio is 61:5. That's outstanding. Good line drive hitter. He also gives you flexibility in your batting order. You can bat him at the top or somewhere in the middle. Sort of a poor man's Grady Sizemore, but that's not really a knock on him at all.
  18. Jair Jurrjens
  19. That's why I asked the question. He is their captain, but it's against league policy. My question is why is that a policy?
  20. Bulls were foolish to let him go. But he is a whack job.
  21. I think if Posada weren't so good from an offensive standpoint you could make a case for someone like Molina starting - if he brought more to the table than just his defense, which he doesn't. It's true that a catcher who is good at framing the ball is a pitcher's best friend and a hitter's worst nightmare. And a catcher's primary function is to call a good game (if the manager allows it)/throw out runners/block balls in the dirt. That's how it has always been. That's how it will always be. But a catcher who can rake is rare. Rarer still is a catcher who can rake for a long time. And that's something that Posada has done, to his credit. Varitek's performance today does lend some credibility to Gom's argument. I know Crawford stole some of those bases off the pitchers, but not all 6 of them.
  22. Why can't goalies be captains in the NHL?
  23. Hinrich isn't a big guy, by any stretch of the imagination. Of course it's possible. I don't believe Rondo is 170 lbs. He has a wiry frame, yes, but he's not a string bean. He actually looks a lot stronger than Hinrich. And if you look at the replay, it's obvious who was the aggressor. Back in the day, Rodman used to pull s*** like that all of the time. Miller got hammered the other night. Rondo hit him square in the jaw as hard as he could. Like I said before, he did what he had to do. No one was there to stop Miller. Although Miller should have gone strong to the hoop instead of going with that f***ing finger roll. Doc Rivers called it a playoff foul. That's code for we got away with a flagrant foul. The Celtics are the defending champs. I get that they're going to get calls over the Bulls for that reason, especially in the Garden. But it was a flagrant foul. Chances are the Bulls still would have lost the game even if they had gotten the ball back, but the point stands.
  24. Now you can see why I picked Danks.
