  1. I think I remember that post. Something about big man syndrome and Boog Powell. I'd take Fielder over Howard as well. Five years is a huge difference in age. You're not going to get much from either of them with the glove, but I'd say Fielder is marginally better at first.
  2. Joe Morgan convinced me to pick Cano. Actually, it was position scarcity and the fact that he'll be a Top 5 offensive second baseman for many years to come. And this year so far he's walking more. That's something I'd like to see more of. Also, his work ethic isn't highly regarded. So, he definitely has his drawbacks, but his upside for me was too hard to ignore.
  3. Robinson Cano
  4. So if the guy misses the window, should I just make my pick or give him a little more time?
  5. I'm done arguing with you. A-Rod has been a black hole in the lineup in virtually every AB of virtually every postseason for the Yankees. You probably wouldn't admit it (maybe not even to yourself), but if the game were on the line and it's the 9th inning of a crucial game... you wouldn't want A-Rod at the plate. I know I wouldn't.
  6. That was pretty f***ing sweet. Not every day you see someone steal home.
  7. True, that makes sense. This could be tough. Bullpens are so goddamn inconsistent.
  8. I have a question about relief pitchers. Obviously, we'll be drafting closers, but since this is anti-fantasy should we also try to put a legitimate bullpen together with middle relievers and setup men?
  9. Youkiis is the f***ing man, but I'm not sure that was such a good pick. Five years from now, he'll be 35.
  10. ********, ********, ********... A-Rod wasn't the only Yankee presented in a bad light. See Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jason Giambi, Randy Johnson, and Gary Sheffield. Or didn't you read the book? My reasoning for A-Rod not being clutch is actually based on facts. Torre and Verducci simply drive the point home for Yankee fans like you who can't see the forest for the trees. Here's a quote from the book about the 2004 ALCS and future postseasons. You tell me if this was spun or if it speaks for itself: "The Yankees scored first, on a two-run home run by Alex Rodriguez in the third inning. It would be the last time Rodriguez drove in a base runner in the postseason in this series and the next three postseasons comined, a span of 59 at-bats overall in which he batted .136, including 0-for-27 with 38 total runners on base."
  11. A-Rod isn't clutch. Even Joe Torre admitted it. If you don't believe me, read his goddamn book. Time and time again, A-Rod failed to deliver. I mean f***, Torre had him batting in the 6th hole and even the 8th hole in the 2006 ALDS.
  12. Upton was a great pick, for all of those reasons. The guy can do it all. Shields was a very good pick, but I think he would have been available in a later round. He's a guy I wanted, but there are a handful of pitchers I would have taken before him. There are only two holes that I see in Braun's game: OBP and defense. I expect his OBP to improve over time. Don't know about his defense.
  13. I also would have picked Lincecum over Santana. The only problem I have with Lincecum is I think he throws harder than his body can handle. There aren't too many guys like Pedro out there. For Lincecum's sake, I hope he has a rubber arm - or fills out a little. That said, I expect Santana will still be Santana for another 2-3 years. After that, he may start to wear down.
  14. Top 5 is more like it. Paul, Williams, and Billups are the best. Tony Parker and Devin Harris are up there, too.
  15. Of course injuries should play a role. A pretty big one, at that. We'll be evaluating these players over the next 5 years.
  16. Damn, the real Bulls showed up tonight.
  17. True, you really can't go wrong with either one of them.
  18. I think Longoria will be a monster. Some say he's the next Mike Schmidt. That's a once in a lifetime third baseman. Hard to pass up. I expect a slight drop off in Wright's power in the next 5 years, especially in that new park. As for Reyes, you're never really sure how old those Dominicans are. And all of those stolen bases may take a toll on his body. Pujols and Hanley were excellent, if predictable picks. Tulo definitely took me by surprise.
  19. It came down to Longoria, Wright, and Reyes for me. Not an easy decision.
  20. Great game, fun series so far. Gordon was a monster, but he's streaky as hell. Lots of blocked shots for the Bulls. Looking forward to Game 3.
  21. Hope so. Can't do any worse than 100 years of fail.
  22. Count me in, too. My team will be the Bizarro Chicago Cubs.
