  1. I wanted Ryan Madson as my setup man, but since that's no longer possible Huston Street seemed like a good substitute. Even though he's primarily been used as a closer in his career, I feel fairly confident he could make the adjustment. He's only 25 and has been money since his rookie year. My two cents on the Manny pick. It's a good value pick, assuming he's not blacklisted from baseball after this season.
  2. Huston Street
  3. Ask and you shall receive.
  4. But highly probable.
  5. Apparently, Walter Johnson was also a mutant.
  6. Because you've never seen him off the juice until now.
  7. They were 17-12 in the month of September and had a 5-game winning streak going into the postseason. They also probably had the best rotation 1-4 in all of baseball that year.
  8. Are we positive they didn't give him a chance to retire before cutting him?
  9. Hence the argument about getting hot at the right time. What don't you understand about this? Yes.
  10. Coincidence? What the f*** are you talking about? You don't have to be hot going into the postseason to get hot during the postseason. I watched the Cubs a lot more than you did. They were not a good team in '07. They were significantly better in '08.
  11. Playoff run in '06. Jesus. I wasn't talking about the '03 Cubs. Outplayed is one thing. Swept in 2 consecutive postseasons by teams that didn't even make it to the World Series might be an indication that you're a pretender. There is certainly an element of luck in baseball, but let's not go crazy and say every time you lose a series you were unlucky or "weird things happened." That's B.S.
  12. Was Pavano really that sought after? He had 1 good season out of 7 before coming to the Yankees. But I guess your FO knew more than everybody else... You know something? You're right. They didn't give up much to get Brown. What's 15.5 million a year? They were all bad moves, any way you slice it. Pavano, Igawa, Brown, and Wright were bad signings even without retrospect. They got a little unlucky with Johnson and Contreras. Some guys can't pitch in New York, though. Letting Santana go was embarrassing.
  13. You can and should blame the FO. Carl Pavano Kevin Brown Jaret Wright Kei Igawa Randy Johnson Jose Contreras Johann Santana
  14. Pedro. I despised Shea Hillenbrand.
  15. Goddamn, Ryan Madson is an excellent pick. Terrific setup man. I thought I could sneak him past everyone in a later round.
  16. Nolan Reimold is a good pick. I was strongly considering him for my next pick. Impressive minor league numbers. I think he could be a Pat Burrell with a little less power but a lot more speed.
  17. That's the angel on your shoulder talking. Doooo it. You know you want to. I guess I'd wait the full 36 hours as well, though.
  18. Yankee fans must not know what to do with themselves. Joba pitching into the 7th inning? Wow, imagine that. Something a good starter should be able to do.
  19. Haha, bringeth it on.
  20. But he's colorful and old school! No, you're 100% right. He's awful.
