  1. Chris Perez sucks. What an underachiever.
  2. Lineups: Sox Scutaro Pedroia Martinez Youkilis Ortiz Beltre Drew Cameron Hermida Twins Span Hudson Mauer Morneau Cuddyer Kubel Young Hardy Punto
  3. Capitals in 5 Devils in 6 Sabres in 7 Penguins in 6 Sharks in 6 Hawks in 5 Kings in 7 Wings in 6
  4. I love Cruz as well, especially now that he's on my fantasy team. However, he's batting 5th right now in that lineup. And when Kinsler comes back, he could be bumped to 6th or 7th (behind Chris Davis) because Ron Washington is still on crack.
  5. Hard not to like this if you're a Jets fan. I know Holmes has had his problems off the field, but I'm not sure how a fifth-round pick makes the Steelers better than they were with Holmes.
  6. What about Santana? Did they not want to pay him, or did they just not want him?
  7. Jacko runs his mouth off a lot to piss off Sox fans. That's really not up for debate. That said, I do think people jump on him too much. As biased as he is, he does have moments where he tries to look at things objectively. He doesn't always succeed at being objective (who does?), but the effort is there - sometimes.
  8. PECOTA did. However, when Ryan Sweeney, Kevin Kouzmanoff, and Kurt Suzuki are the heart of your order... good luck. Daric Barton is kind of an interesting prospect a la Nick Johnson. I like what Cliff Pennington brings to the table at short. Brett Anderson is going to be a stud. I still think the Angels are the team to beat in that division, although it's going to be a tight race all season, IMO.
  9. Have to agree with Y228 here. Obstructions are a variable that should never come into play. Look at what happened to Mantle. No drain pipe sticking out, and he would have played on two legs.
  10. I saw Clippard pitch a little last year. The guy has good stuff. Looks like he is starting to harness it. Charlie Haeger has 7 Ks through 3. I love knuckleballers.
  11. Probably not. However, there are some legitimate concerns regarding Abreu: "Can Abreu’s aging body hold up to another year of playing in the field everyday? Abreu will be 36 on Opening Day and by all reports is in great shape, but old is old and sooner or later his age is going to catch up with him. He showed some real signs of wear and tear in the second half of last season (see his August OPS of .655 as an example) and could probably have benefited from moving to DH this season but that definitely won’t be happening now that Hideki Matsui is in place. Bobby has played 151 or more games in every season since 1998, so he is certainly durable, but that doesn’t mean he is invincible. Where did Bobby’s power go? Last season Bobby Abreu’s power seemed to dry up almost entirely as he finished the season with just 29 doubles, 15 home runs and an ISO of .142, easily the lowest ISO of his 12 full professional seasons. Abreu hit just one homer in his first two months as an Angel, but he did finish on an uptick to close the season by posting ISOs of .170 or higher in three of the final four months, much more in line with his typical production. So which Abreu will the Angels get in 2010?" Meanwhile, you can't deny Heyward's upside. He's been compared to Griffey. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Abreu's floor this season, which is certainly lower than Heyward's ceiling.
  12. I would be fine with that. Heyward will probably be starting for me on a regular basis before long. I firmly believe he could have a better year than Bobby Abreu, who is one of your starting OFs.
  13. I'm telling you guys, right now is the time to offer me trades for Heyward. You can probably get him from me for good value. Wait too long, and I'll ask for more for him. He's already starting to move up in the Braves' lineup. Truth be told, I'm not even sure I want to trade him. But for the right SP (we're talking about a solid #3 Fantasy SP here), he can be yours.
  14. Your own fault for owning a backup closer. I understand why someone would want a backup closer. But not the backup of Broxton.
  15. I was hoping he would throw around 140. That was the exact number that popped into my head. Oh well.
  16. Through 7. Time to take it seriously. His pitch count is a bit high at 102.
  17. That's nuts. That has to be some kind of record.
  18. The Sox are going to miss Saito. Bard needs to get his s*** together.
  19. Fair enough, but Wakefield isn't the only knuckleballer who has had success. Maybe in recent years, though. Wakefield and Charlie Hough are the only good knuckleballers I can think of from the last 20 years or so. Steve Sparks had one good season.
  20. And Price has been unusually efficient. 66 pitches through 6. I'd say this game is over.
  21. Yoshida will pitch in an Independent League.
  22. You can't tell batters not to step out of the box when some pitchers take forever in between pitches. Joe West is not bigger than baseball or the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. He needs to STFU. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he also thinks hitters should be up there hacking all the time to speed up the game.
  23. Our horse face pitcher is better than your horse face pitcher!
