  1. Colby Lewis is an interesting pitcher. Looked like his career was over. He goes to Japan and puts up ridiculous numbers. Will they translate? So far, he hasn't been too bad. But maybe it's time for the Sox offense to wake up and leave the Rangers devastated in their wake with Wakefield on the bump and give Lewis a wake up call.
  2. Let's not give the Twins' FO too much credit. They gave away Matt Garza and Jason Bartlett for almost nothing. I'm sorry, but Delmon Young has to be considered a bust at this point. So far, they've also got nothing in return for Johan Santana.
  3. Lavarnway is off to a scorching start in Class A-Advanced. Through 9 games and 41 PAs, Lavarnway's line is .462/.488/.821, 3 HRs, 5 doubles, 15 RBIs, 13 runs scored. Won't be long before he's in AA.
  4. You guys have every right to swoon over your team, but goddamn the last few pages have been sickening to read.
  5. Cust is a cheaper version of Dunn because he is an inferior version of Dunn. And his numbers have gone down the last 3 seasons. That's not a good trend. Dunn is Mr. Consistent.
  6. I must bring good luck to pitchers I draft. Buehrle last year, Ubaldo this year. I should draft a Sox pitcher next year...
  7. He got it! Is that the first no-no in Rockies' history?
  8. Ubaldo has a no-no through 8. But he's also issued 6 BBs, so he's already thrown 115 pitches.
  9. Tim Lincecum is 3-3 with 3 RBIs.
  10. Jesus suns, what's up with the Guardians' caps today?
  11. I watched the video. There were three pitches that could have been called strikes. They were borderline. I'm not sure why ORS has framing in quotes. It's not "mythical."
  12. Hawks suck. Nashville was faster to the puck all night.
  13. Haha, true.
  14. Larry Doby always gets overlooked. Compared to Jackie Robinson, he's never gotten his due, IMO.
  15. Wow, should be runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. Could have had a big inning.
  16. Right, because Billy Beane isn't known for making trades to try to improve his farm system...
  17. Picking up C.J. Wilson looked like a really good move a few days ago. He was scheduled to face the Guardians in Cleveland. Perfect time for a spot start and a test run. He gets the stomach flu and now he has to face the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. This blows.
  18. Yes, please. But only if they get a big bat or two to replace V-Mart's production.
  19. Japanese baseball may have also resurrected Colby Lewis' career. Kind of a cool story if he has a good season for the Rangers.
  20. This would support the idea that football is bigger in the South. Not that it's not big up here, but it's inconceivable to me that any high school should have a stadium like that.
  21. It takes balls to sing a song sung by a woman. Although Dusty Springfield sounds like a man's name. I've never done karaoke. Based on my singing in the shower, I think I could do okay. Especially if there are a lot of drunk people singing.
  22. I wouldn't blame Wood's trips to the DL on Baker. Wood has always been injury-prone. I honestly don't know what the hell happened to Prior. I liked what I saw from Leake in his first start. His stuff isn't explosive, but he seems to have a good feel for pitching. Arroyo should be a good mentor. Leake can swing the bat a little, too. Baker definitely left him in there an inning too long.
  23. Someone told me Gordon Beckham's intro song this year is "Your Love" by The Outfield, which is kind of awesome. I found an old list of baseball entrance music, and it got me thinking: If you were a baseball player, what would your intro song be? Right now, I'm leaning towards Electric Light Orchestra's "Fire On High." If I were a power hitter, I'd probably use something from one of Basil Poledouris film scores to intimidate the pitcher. I've given this way too much thought, I know.
  24. Dye got at least one offer in the offseason. I think it was for like $3.5 mill. Which is actually pretty fair, given that he is no spring chicken, how bad he was in the second half last year, and how much his defense has declined. I agree with everything example said about Sheffield. If there are less black players in baseball today (and I'm not sure there are), it's not because of racism. It's because black athletes nowadays seem to prefer basketball and football.
