  1. f***ing good ol' boys umpiring and scorekeeping at Belmont. My brother and his team got absolutely f***ed this series.
  2. I never said baseball wouldn't survive. I just said I would be against the move. You care nothing for franchise history and have advocated identical dimensions and indoor ballparks for every team. We are clearly at opposite ends of the baseball fan spectrum.
  3. Konerko is gone after the season, so I could definitely see them going after Gonzalez. But I don't see the White Sox dealing Beckham. His bat and upside are way too valuable, especially now that he's moved to 2B. Their best prospects are Dan Hudson, Tyler Flowers, and Jared Mitchell.
  4. Great showing by U.S. They should be proud.
  5. No f***ing way!
  6. Good God man, stop. If anything, with these injuries Lowrie is on the decline. Now is not the time hype this guy.
  7. Ignorance. I'll give you the Guardians as a mediocre franchise (Sorry suns, but it's true), but the Orioles won a World Series in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. And the Reds had a dynasty in the 70s. The Big Red Machine was an historic team if there ever was one. Also won a WS in 1990. And I don't have a problem with those teams changing divisions. I specifically said leagues.
  8. The Reds, Orioles, and Guardians.
  9. I don't like the idea of moving teams that have been around for a long time with established fan bases to the other league. Expansion teams from the last 30 years or so are fair game, though.
  10. The modest realignment proposal isn't too bad. No comment on the other two proposals.
  11. How do you figure the Royals are going to finish 2nd in the AL Central? And how are the White Sox going to finish last when they easily have the best rotation in the division?
  12. Also, is there a better one-two punch than Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer at UCLA?
  13. Wow, Pomeranz fanned 15 in 7 innings. Alex Wimmers is also dominating at Ohio State. I hope my bro gets to face him in Florida. I'm curious if anyone knows how many sons or relatives of former MLB players are playing right now. I know Oklahoma alone has two (Seitzer and Buechele). EIU has recruited a distant relative of Yogi Berra. Surprise, surprise: he's a catcher. Valparaiso has Eddie Gaedel's (Technically, he counts) great nephew, who is actually quite tall. Anyone know of any others?
  14. AL East Yankees Red Sox (Wild Card) Rays Orioles Blue Jays AL Central Twins White Sox Tigers Guardians Royals AL West Angels Mariners Rangers Athletics NL East Phillies Braves (Wild Card) Marlins Nationals Mets NL Central Cardinals Cubs Brewers Reds Astros Pirates NL West Giants Dodgers Rockies Diamondbacks Padres
  15. Brian Westbrook was just released by the Eagles. I read that he doesn't want to retire. I'd take a chance on him for the right price. A poor man's Marshall Faulk, but he's still damn good. The question is how many more concussions can he take?
  16. True. Under the precondition that Lee has another great season this year in Seattle, I would prefer Lee moving forward, but to clarify my position I wouldn't be upset if the Sox re-signed Beckett. Definitely believe in the contract year theory. It may not be admirable, but a lot of guys miraculously take their game to a new level when money is on the line.
  17. Good to have you back, Gom. Nah, I'm coming back with a vengeance this year.
  18. My exposure to the Hawks began fairly late as well, but that's largely because home games weren't televised up until a year ago or so. Thanks for finally dying, Bill Wirtz. I couldn't be bothered to follow a team that only aired half of its games.
  19. Splits fluctuate from year to year. Lee held righties to .621 and lefties to .661 in 2008. In 2009, he held lefties to .583. Lester held righties to .737 and lefties to .571 in 2008. In 2009, he held righties to .649 and lefties to .717.
  20. Bill Lee didn't strike people out. And Cliff Lee has a higher K/9 in his career and the last 2 seasons than Lester had in 2008. Also, Lester's K/9 went way up in 2009 from the year before, and he wasn't markedly better.
  21. Foot surgery.
